Busy Wednesday

Officers were kept busy Wednesday with 34 calls for service during the 24 hour period including 25 calls during the day shift between 7pm and 7am. The calls included 3 domestic disturbances resulting in 6 criminal code charges, 3 Calls under the Mental Health Act resulting in persons being taken to the Brockville General Hospital, 2 thefts, 2 calls to assist other police agencies, and an arrest for an outstanding warrant.

 

Domestic Disturbances

Shortly after 9:30 a.m. yesterday morning, officers were called to a King Street East apartment building on a report of a domestic disturbance in one of the units. Neighbours could hear yelling, banging and swearing from the unit.

When officers arrived they were able to calm the situation. While investigating observed damage that had been done inside the apartment and also confirmed the 33 year old man who resided there was on probation. As a result he was arrested for mischief under $5000 and breaching his probation and given a future court date.

 

Brockville Police are looking to speak with an 18 year old Brockville man in relation to a domestic disturbance yesterday afternoon just outside of BCI.

At 2 p.m. yesterday afternoon officers were called to the office at Brockville Collegiate where staff had the female victim inside waiting to speak with officers and the doors to the school had been locked. Several staff members had observed the young woman outside the school in an argument with boyfriend. The woman attempted to flee by running inside the school when the man grabbed her in an attempt to continue the argument. BCI staff was able to get her inside the school, lock the doors and call police.

 

Just before 5 p.m. Brockville Police were called to a Brock Street residence for another domestic dispute. At that time, the female victim texted her father asking him to call police as her husband was smashing property inside the residence. When police arrived at the home the 38 year old man had fled the residence but was located a short time later and arrested by police for mischief. He is being held for a bail hearing later today.

 

Warrant

A 39 year old Brockville area man was arrested late yesterday afternoon when officers spotted him walking along Park Street while he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

Police also confirmed the man who is known to them, to have an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court on November 10th and as a result was placed under arrest for the warrant and conveyed to the Brockville Police station where he was held until sober and released with a future court date with an additional charge of fail to attend court.
