August 23 – 24, 2016 Incidents

Intoxicated Female

On August 22nd at 5:15 pm, Brockville Police Officers stopped a woman struggling to make her way while walking on a south end street.

The local 30 year old was found to be intoxicated. She was arrested for her own protection and brought to the Police station. She was released with a fine when sober.

 

Theft From Vehicles

On August 23rd at 1:37 pm, Brockville Police responded to a theft in progress on a north end street.

A witness indicated a young female was observed entering their neighbour’s vehicle while parked in the driveway.  Officers located the local 17 year old nearby and found property from the vehicle on her person. Police also located items from a previous theft from vehicle incident.

She was arrested and charged for possession of stolen property. Later in the afternoon, she was released with a future court date.

 

Probation Breach

On August 23rd at 9:42 pm, Brockville Police attended a south end residence to look into a breach of probation.

A local 48 year old woman was placed on probation earlier in the day for harassing her previous neighbour. She managed to breach the order before the day was over by approaching the person named in the order that she was to have no contact with. She was arrested and charged with breaching her probation and released with on conditions with a future court date.

 

Domestic Assault

On August 24th at 1:23 am, Brockville Police attended a south end intersection for a domestic assault investigation.

The 41 year old female victim had left her residence after being assaulted by her 41 year old partner. The accused man had pushed her into a wall and then down a flight of stairs. She suffered injuries that included a broken nose.

The man was no longer at the residence and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.  He faces charges of assault causing bodily harm and breaching an existing probation order.

The victim received medical attention for her injuries.

 

Arson

On August 24th at 10:28 am, Brockville Police attended a working fire in an apartment building on Park Street.

Police have arrested a 51 year old man, who is a tenant of the building. The investigation is ongoing but charges of arson and assault Police have been laid and he will appear in bail court tomorrow afternoon.

When taken to the Police station, the accused spit in an Officer’s face while being asked questions. There is extensive damage to the building as a result but no injuries have been reported. At this point it appears the fire started in the apartment of the accused man.

Victim Services of Leeds Grenville and the Red Cross attended the site to assist other tenants.
