Arrest on Warrant

On the 14th of January, 2017 at approximatley 7 pm the Smiths Falls Police Service arrested a 48 year old man on the authority of a Brockville warrant. The Smiths Falls resident was wanted in relation to a shoplifting incident in December of 2016 in which he did attempt to steal from the Brockville Walmart. The man is now scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

 

Impaired Driver

On the 15th of January, 2017 at approximately 2:53 a.m. police stopped a vehicle for speeding in the north end of the city. The vehicle was driven by a 37 year old woman who resides in the City of Brockville. As police dealt with the woman for the driving offence they detected signs of alcohol comsumption. The woman registered a fail on an approved roadside screening device. The woman provided samples of her breath and was charged with impaired driving and driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100 mls of blood. Her licence has been suspended and she is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

January 13, 2017 Incidents

Warrant

On the 13th of January, 2017 a 43 year old Kingston woman was remanded into custody on a number of outstanding criminal matters. She was arrested in Niagara Falls and at that time had outstanding warrants for her arrest held by both the Brockville Police and Ontario Provincial Police. The woman was returned to Brockville courthouse to address the outstanding issues. It is noted that the original Brockville matter was drug related and occurred in 2003.

 

Traffic Stop / Arrest on Warrant

On the 13th of January, 2017 at approximately 4:35 pm a 34 year old Brockville man was arrested on the authority of an outstanding warrant for breaching the conditions of his probation order. The man was a passenger in a motor vehicle that was stopped in the south end of the city. He is to appear in court at a later date.

 

Impaired Driver / Accident

On the 13th of January, 2017 at approximatley 4:50 pm the Brockville Police received a complaint of a single motor vehicle accident in the area of North Augusta Road north of Centennial Road. On arrival officers formed the opinion that the driver’s ability to operate the motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and the 49 year old male was consequently arrested for impaired driving. After being transported to the service and necessary samples of breath were obtained the man was charged with impaired operation and driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100 mls of blood. The man was released from custody with a future court date. There were no reported injuries as a result of the accident.

January 12, 2017 Incidents

Assault – Domestic

A 48 year old Brockville male was arrested for a domestic related assault after police attended to a south end residence. The accused had allegedly locked the complainant out of the residence. After speaking to all involved, evidence of the assault was obtained and the man was arrested and held for a bail hearing on this date. No injuries were noted.

 

Mischief

On the 12th of January at approximatley 10 pm police received a complaint of a rock being thrown threw the window of a north end address in the area of the Memorial Centre. Police attended and searched the area however no one was located. If anyone has any information concerning this matter they area asked to contact the Brockville Police Service 613-342-0127.

 

Liquor Licence Act:

On the 13th of January at approximatley 1:30 a.m. police were called to a south end bar for a reported disturbance. As a result, a 25 year old man was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. During a search incident to arrest the man was noted to be in possession of both cannabis marihauna and a quantity of unlabelled pills. The man was held until sober and released on a promise to appear with a future court date for possession of a controlled substance and an applicable breach of probation as he was bound by a probation order at the time of the offence.

 

Assault

On the 13th of January, 2017 at approximatley 5 am police responded to a north end residence after the complainant alleged that her partner allegedly assaulted her son. After attending and speaking to all involved a 30 year old man was arrested and charged with assault. The child did not require treatment with no injuries noted. The man was released on a promise to appear with a future court date.

Brockville Officer Charged

The Brockville Police Service is reporting that an officer has been charged with an offence relating to prescription drugs contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. The Brockville Police Service initiated the investigation and received assistance from the Ottawa Police Service. The officer was charged yesterday. The officer has been suspended from duties with pay as per the Police Services Act and will appear in an Ottawa court on February 8th.

The Brockville Police Service does not identify accused persons and therefore the identity of the accused in this matter will not be released.

As this matter is now before the courts we are unable to provide any further details relating to the matter.

January 9, 2017 Incidents

Grow Op

A functioning carbon monoxide detector, led Brockville Police and the Brockville Fire Department to an active marijuana grow operation.  On January 7th at approximately 11:00 am, police and fire responded to the residence to check on the alarm at a south end residence.  Officers dicovered a fairly sophisticated set up and seized a quantity of plants.  A local, 25 year old woman, has been arrested and charged with production of a controlled substance.

 

Wanted Male Arrested

A local, 20 year old man has been arrested after assaulting his mother on January 8th.

In a previous media release, Brockville Police spoke to the assault in which the young man grabbed his mother by the throat while holding a pair of scissors.  Brockville Police received information yesterday that indicated the man’s whereabouts.  Officers attended the central area housing complex around 4:40 pm. and arrested him for assault with a weapon, mischief and breaching his probation order.  He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

Damage to Residence Leads to Mischief Charges

After a dispute with his mother, a local man caused damage to her residence.  Brockville Police attended the south end home and observed the young man still damaging property while they were present.  The 21 year old was asked to settle down and he complied. Officers noted damage to an entry door as well as a cabinet.  At approximately 8:00 am., officers arrested the man for mischief as well as failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking and a recognizance for charges still before the courts.  He was held in custody for a bail hearing yesterday.  That appearance resulted in his matters being put over to todays’ bail court.

 

Mental Health

Making comments to hurt himself resulted in friends contacting police to obtain help for a local, 40 year old man.  Brockville Police attended his residence on the 9th about 7:00 pm.  After speaking with the man, it was decided that the local hospital was the course of action.  Officers escorted the man to be seen by appropriate medical staff.

 

Traffic Note

Members of the Community should get any driving errands in this morning.  The forecast calls for snow to begin around midday with four inches possible.  Because of the temperatures, the snow will be heavy with lots of moisture.

January 7 – 8, 2017 Incidents

Accident at rail crossing

On the 7th of January at approximately four o’clock in the afternoon, a motor vehicle travelling west bound on Parkedale Ave made the mistake of driving through the railway crossing barricades while in the lowered position. The driver caused damage to the barricade arms as well as the motor vehicle. The driver, declined to stop and continued on his way. The vehicle and a 38 year old male driver were identified and turned themselves into the Brockville Police. He was subsequently charged with failing to report an accident under the Highway Traffic Act.

 

Assault

Brockville Police are currently looking to locate a local 45 year old woman who assaulted her 26 year old daughter. In the late afternoon on the 7th of January, an altercation took place between a mother and daughter which resulted in the suspect punching the victim in the face. The suspect was intoxicated at the time of the assault and caused minor injuries to the victim. The female suspect is currently on conditions to not drink alcohol and is facing an additional charge of assault.

 

Warrant

On the 8th of January at noon hour, a 32 year old male was located and arrested on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court and breaching conditions of his recognizance. He was held for bail.

 

Family Dispute

In the evening of the 8th of January, Police responded to a north end residence regarding a family dispute between a mother and her 20 year old son. The female victim was assaulted and threatened with a pair of scissors after the male kicked a hole in the bathroom door. The 20 year old male fled prior to Police arrival and is currently being sought by Police for assault with a weapon, uttering threats, mischief and failing to comply with probation.

January 5 – 7, 2017 Incidents

Family Disturbance

A local male was arrested after causing a disturbance in his family’s residence. On the 5th January, 2017 at approximately 9:45pm, the Brockville Police Service received report of an intoxicated 48 year old male, causing problems in the family home. The residence is located in the South end of our City. Officers attended and determined that to keep the peace in the household the male had to be arrested and held until sober. The male was later released from police custody without charges.

 

Fire

There was a small fire extinguished without damages. Shortly after 11:00pm on the 6th of January, 2017 the Brockville Police Service and Brockville Fire Department, responded to a fire located at a North end apartment building. The fire consisted of 4 mattresses engulfed in flames beside a dumpster. The cause of the fire is unknown and there were no damages as a result.

 

Arrest Warrants Executed

A Non local male, with ties to Brockville, was arrested on outstanding warrants. On the 7th of January, 2017 at approximately 3:00am, the Brockville Police Service performed a vehicle stop in reference to a Highway Traffic Act offence in the South end of the City. The vehicle had two occupants. One of which was a male, 24 years of age out of Ottawa. This male had arrest warrants issued by both the Brockville Police Service and Ottawa Police Service for various criminal offences. The male was arrested and held. He was later turned over to the Ottawa Police Service after being served documents compelling him to court.

 

Public Intoxication

22 year old intoxicated male, arrested for his wellbeing. On the 7th January, 2017 at 4:00am, the Brockville Police Service was called to an address in the North end of the City. The home owners were woken to the doorbell being rang. They found a heavily intoxicated male at the door, covered in snow and ice and not properly dressed for the elements. The male is a 22 year old resident of Mallorytown. He was arrested and later released from custody once sober.

January 4, 2017 Incidents

Car Accident /Slippery Roads

A local, 40 year old woman, suffered injuries as a result of a head on, motor vehicle accident, on Laurier Blvd., close to the Windsor Drive intersection.  Her east bound vehicle slid into the path of a west bound vehicle.  Brockville Police attended the area yesterday around 5:00 pm.  She was taken to hospital by ambulance for non-life-threatening injuries.  The other driver was checked at the scene and cleared medically.  Road conditions were a factor in the accident.

 

Noise Complaint/Breach of Recognizance

Failing to attend his door to speak to police officers will lead to charges for a local, 35 year old man.  Brockville Police attended a noise complaint at a south end residence shortly before 1:00 am., this morning.  Officers had received information of yelling, swearing and slamming doors from within the home.  The man associated to the residence is under court conditions to speak to officers when they show up at his door (Operation Door Knock).  As a result, the man will be charged with breaching the conditions of his recognizance along with mischief in regards to interfering with his neighbours enjoyment of their own property.

 

 

January 3, 2017 Incidents

Domestic Assault Arrest

The accused in a domestic assault on New Years day was arrested yesterday at a north end restaurant.  On the 1st at 2:48 am, Brockville Police attended a south end apartment building to speak to the victim.  She had been pushed to the floor of her residence and pinned down, then punched.  On the night in question, the accused was no longer in the area.  Police received information that the male accused, 37 year of age, had reported for work at the eatery mentioned.  He was arrested and charged for assault and taken to Brockville Police headquarters.  The man was held in custody for a bail hearing yesterday.  The victim did not require medical attention.

 

Mental Health

Threatening to hurt herself, a 22 year old woman was apprehended at a local residence after police were notified.  Brockville Police officers arrived at the residence on the 3rd around 2:30 pm.  The young woman had already reportedly stood on the railway tracks for a period of time and then mentioned jumping into traffic. She returned to the residence while police were on route to the call.  Officers escorted the subject to local hospital and left her in the care of medical staff for appropriate intervention.

 

Operation Doorknock

Two local males face charges as a result of being away from their residence while facing court ordered curfews.

“OPERATION DOORKNOCK”, requires certain individuals, charged with criminal offences, to appear at the door of their residence when police attend.  Brockville Police attended multiple homes in the city during early evening hours on January 3rd.  While at two of these homes, the subjects facing a curfew failed to attend their doors when officers arrived.  When dealt with, Brockville Police will release more details.

 

Impaired Driving

A local, 20 year old man, faces charges of driving while impaired by a drug as a result of a parking complaint.  Brockville Police received a complaint of a man refusing to move his vehicle at the Brockville General hospital.  Officers arrived just before 11:00 pm., last night to speak with him.  The young man was showing signs of recent drug use and was taken to the Prescott OPP area to be evaluated by a drug recognition officer.  That officer determined the subject’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by a drug.  Brockville Police returned the man to the hospital after a demand was made for his blood.  He was released with a future court date and the blood samples were sent to the Ontario center of forensic sciences for testing.  The penalties for a conviction are the same for drugs or alcohol.

 

 

 

 

 

 

January 2, 2017 Incidents

Drug Charge

Walking past a police officer while smoking marijuana resulted in drug charges for a local, 24 year old woman.  Brockville Police attended a centrally located apartment building on the 2nd for an unrelated matter.  Shortly before 3:00 pm., an officer noted the woman walking, smoking what appeared to be a marijuana cigarette.

After her arrest, a search of her person turned up a small quantity of marijuana as well as another illegal substance.  She was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.  A short while later, a court date was issued as well as conditions of her release.

 

Breach of Probation

A local, 22 year old male, currently on probation, drew attention to himself while in the Tim Horton’s on Parkedale Ave.He was making excessive noise in the establishment and then left on foot heading west.  Brockville Police officers located the man behind the theater at the 1000 Islands Mall.  An odour of alcohol was detected on his breath during conversation.  He was arrested on the 2nd just after 9:00 pm and charged with breaching his probation order as he was not to consume alcohol.  The man was released later with a future fingerprint and court date.
