March 4 – 6, 2016 Incidents

Domestic Assault

On February 29th, 2016, Brockville Police began investigating a domestic assault complaint. A local female reported several events that took place between her and her spouse which involved assaults and threats.

Police arrested the local, 52 year old man on the weekend and remanded him into custody for a bail hearing. He faces three counts of assault and two charges of uttering threats. The female received non-life threatening injuries during the assaults. The offences stemmed mainly from incidents in 2015.

 

Intoxicated Person

On March 4th at 3:36 pm., Brockville Police attended the Brockville Public Library to deal with an intoxicated male.

A local, 56 year old, was spoken to and found heavily under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and charged with public intoxication. When sober, the male was released with a fine.

 

Traffic Stop

On March 6th at 3:03 pm., Brockville Police stopped a motor vehicle in the center of the city.

The local, 45 year old, male driver, was found to be a suspended driver. Further investigation revealed the man had been charged 15 times for driving while suspended. A warrant had been issued for his arrest due to his extreme disrespect for previous court imposed suspensions. The man was held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

Theft

On March 6th at 4:04 pm., Brockville Police attended a department store in the center of town for a theft complaint.

Police dealt with a 44 year old female from Quebec. The theft from the store could not be proven, however, she was on three different undertakings for domestic related charges.   One of the conditions of each undertaking was to abstain from the consumption of alcohol. At the time of this offence, she had been drinking heavily. Officers arrested and charged the woman with breaching her undertaking and she was then held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

Community Service

On March 6th at 7:50 pm. and 9:43 pm., Brockville Police attended separate calls to check on the mental health of people.

A local, 18 year old male and a 41 year old male were taken to hospital after expressing thoughts of self harm. Both men were left in the care of hospital staff.

Officers remained at the hospital for several hours to ensure no further issues with either male.

 

North Augusta Road is Re-opened

North Augusta Road is now open.  There were no injuries in the incident and the 53yr old driver from Oshawa was charged with several Highway Traffic Act offences including, Commercial Motor Vehicle with Insecure Load, Drive Commercial Motor Vehicle with a Major Defect and Fail to Accurately complete a Daily Inspection Report.  The major defect related to the trailer connection.

 

North Augusta Road Closed

At approximately 7:07 this morning, a loaded trailer separated from it’s tractor unit while coming off the 401 at North Augusta Rd.  As a result, both the north bound and south bound lanes of North Augusta Rd at Waverly Dr. are blocked.  City police are on scene and City Works crews have placed barricades in the area while the tractor and trailer are removed.  It is anticipated that North Augusta Rd will be closed at that location for several hours due to the heavy weight of the trailer and the need for specialized equipment to remove it.

 

February 29 – March 1, 2016 Incidents

Public Intoxication

On February 29th at 12:39 pm., Brockville Police attended a south end street after receiving calls of a man yelling on the roadway.

Officers spoke to a local, 21 year old, who was intoxicated and could offer no reason for his behaviour. The young man was arrested and charged with public intoxication. He was released later the same day and issued a fine.

 

Shoplifting

On February 29th at 7:30 pm., Brockville Police attended a north end box store for a theft complaint.

Officers spoke to a pair of local, male youths, ages 14 and 17 years. The older teen was charged with theft and released on conditions with a future court date. The other youth was warned for his role in the theft. The stolen property was recovered.

 

Bail Violation and Drug Offences

On February 29th at 10:12 pm., Brockville Police stopped a motor vehicle in the north end of the city.

A warrant was in effect for one of the passengers after he failed to attend court in January. The local, 25 year old, was arrested on the warrant and was found to be in possession of marijuana. He was released on conditions and given a future court date to deal with the fail to attend and drug charges.

 

Family Dispute

On March 1st at 10:52 am, Brockville Police attended a south end apartment for a family dispute.

A local, 18 year old male, was engaged in a dispute with his mother. The young man then spit in her face and punched a hole in a bedroom wall before flipping over a piece of furniture. The accused was also on a community supervision order stemming from past charges. Officers arrested and charged the subject with assault, mischief and the probation breach. He was held in custody for bail court but was then released with another court date.

Revenue Canada Phone Scam

Brockville Police are fielding many calls again about Revenue Canada phone scams.  These individuals threaten different things if monies are not paid including fines and jail time.  We would like to confirm once again, this is a scam to obtain money.  Do not engage these people on the phone and contact Revenue Canada if you have any doubts about the legitimacy of these calls.

 

Missing Person: Justine Dickison UPDATE

The Brockville Police continue to receive many tips on Justine’s whereabouts however she is still missing and police, family and friends are concerned for her well-being.

Justine is 29 years of age with blue/green hair and was last seen leaving the Brockville General Hospital on Friday where she was a patient. Anyone with information which may assist in locating Justine is asked to contact the Brockville Police at 613-342-0127.

February 28, 2016 Incidents

Weapons Charges

On February 28th at 1:17 am., Brockville Police attended a south end apartment complex for a suspicious male.

Officers learned that a local, 51 year old man, attended the complex and was banging on apartment doors looking for another male. Witnesses indicated the man was carrying a long knife during his search. The accused was located on a nearby street and arrested and charged with weapons dangerous to the public. Police located the knife in the snow close to the apartment building.

The man was released later in the day with conditions and given a future court date. No one was injured during the incident.

 

False Fire Alarm

On February 28th at 2:37 am., Brockville Police along with the Brockville Fire Department responded to a pulled fire alarm at a north end apartment building.

There have been numerous incidents of pulled alarms in these building in the last few months. The investigation is ongoing but Police ask anyone who may have information about these incidents to contact them. (613) 342-0127.

February 25, 2016 Incidents

Mental Health

On February 25th at 9:50 am., Brockville Police attended one of the community’s mental health group homes to assist with a local male having difficulties.

Officers assisted with transporting the 30 year old man to hospital for appropriate treatment. Due to the individual’s agitated state, Officers remained at the hospital for several hours to prevent any issues.

 

Assault

On February 25th at 11:32 pm., Brockville Police attended a domestic assault complaint at a north end apartment complex.

A local, 58 year old man, had assaulted his 55 year old wife resulting in minor injuries to her face. Officers arrested and charged the man with assault. Both parties had been consuming alcohol at the time.

The accused was released the next day on conditions and given a future court date. The victim did not require medical attention.

February 23, 2016 Incident

Assault

On February 23rd, Brockville Police began an investigation into a dated domestic assault complaint.

A local, 47 year old woman, revealed she was the vicitm of domestic assault on two different dates in January and early February of this year.  The vicitm was struck in the head and chest area during three of the incidents. In one dispute, she was kept from leaving her apartment and another incident resulted in her breathing being compromised by the accused placing a hand over her mouth and nose.  The local, 34 year old accused, was arrested and charged by Police later in the day.

He was held for a bail hearing and faces charges of assault, forcible confinement, choking and breaching his probation.  The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries as a result of the incidents.
