Bear Sightings

On May 28th, the Brockville Police Service received two phone calls in regards to bear sightings.

The first incident was reported at 7:00 am. and the animal was seen near the fire hall on Laurier Blvd.  The second sighting was reported just after noon as the bear was observed crossing Centennial Rd.  The Ministry of Natural Resources has been notified accordingly.

We encourage the reporting of any sightings to maintain a possible direction of movement.  Obviously, don’t approach the animal and maintain a safe distance. Bears are typically scared of humans but we should always be cautious.  At the time of this release, the animal has not presented any public safety issues.
