Impaired Driving by Drugs

A 20 year old Brockville woman is facing charges of impaired driving by drugs and possession of a controlled substance as a result of a traffic complaint yesterday morning. At approximately 730 am Brockville Police received a call from a motorist who was following a Silver Honda Civic northbound on Ormond Street driving erratically. The caller was able to provide dispatchers the licence number of the vehicle and direction of travel and relay this to officers who stopped the car on Ormond Street at Bramshot Avenue.

While officers did not detect an odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath they were of the opinion she was impaired by drugs and arrested her for impaired driving and conveyed her to the police station. Once at the station, a large quantity of assorted pills was found on her person. She was subsequently turned over to a Drug Recognition officer who performed tests for impaired and confirmed the arresting officers suspicions.

As a result the young woman is now facing charges of Impaired Driving, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. She was released from custody with a future court date.
