Homicide Investigation Update
On November 17, 2019 9:55 p.m. Brockville Police responded to a call of a disturbance on Cedar Street between Church and Abbott Street. The caller stated one of the individuals involved had suffered injuries and needed an ambulance.
Officers arrived on scene to discover the victim suffering from stab wounds. The officers and paramedics attempted lifesaving efforts, but the victim Matthew McKinnon 32 years of age did not survive.
The accused male took refuge in a nearby residence and later surrendered to police through the use of a negotiator and the Emergency Response team. Ryan Russell Ballantyne, 34 years of age, has been charged with Second Degree Murder and Weapons Dangerous. Ballantyne was held in custody.
