Bail Violation

A 43 year old Brockville man is in custody this morning awaiting a bail hearing after being arrested last evening for breaching his bail conditions by communicating with his former common-law girlfriend.

While on patrol last evening in the Daniel and Brock Street area officers noticed the man’s vehicle parked on the street near his former girlfriends residence and the woman exiting the residence. Further investigation revealed the man was actually inside the residence and he exited the place and surrendered to police.

In December the man was arrested for assault with a weapon and fleeing from police in a domestic related incident involving the same woman. He is now facing additional charges of breaching his recognizance.

Shoplifter arrested and Drugs found

A 27 year old Prescott man is awaiting a bail hearing later today after being observed taking items from the Real Canadian Superstore by Loss Prevention officers and being found in possession of drugs.

At approximately 9:20 p.m. last evening Brockville Police were called by Loss Prevention officers to the Superstore after Loss Prevention staff had observed the male taking items from the shelf and concealing them before leaving the store without paying.

When the man was approached by Loss Prevention officers and asked to return the make instead fled in the direction of Wal-Mart. As officers arrived they searched the area but were unable initially to locate the man. However officers then did a second search and followed a fresh set of footprints in the snow and located the male hiding near some trees on the north side of Wal-Mart where he was arrested for theft.

After searching the male, a quantity of drugs believed to include marijuana, cocaine and methamphetamines was located on the man. It was also learned he had outstanding warrants from Napanee and was out on outstanding charges.

He will appear later today in Brockville court facing additional theft and drug charges.
