March 15 – 17, 2019 Incidents

The Brockville Police reports that from Friday the 15th of March 17, 2019 from 0700hrs until today the 17th of March 2019 we have received and responded to 64 calls for service, made 8 arrests, issued several criminal charges along with some liquor charges stemming from the holiday weekend festivities. Here are a couple items that can be released at this time. Please contact our Media Relations Office for any further items that may be permitted for release.

Impaired Driver

On the 15th of March 2019 officers responded to a report of a man at an apartment complex in the center of town in the parking lot revving a vehicle engine. On arrival witness information identified the man as being the operator of the vehicle and further investigation revealed that the 35 year old male was impaired by alcohol. He was arrested and brought to headquarters where his breath samples were obtained and the readings resulted in charges being issued.  He was later released with a future court date.

Weapons Call

On the date of the 16th of March, 2019, police received a 911 call of a male brandishing a knife in the north end of the city in the late afternoon. The caller kept himself in his vehicle for security as he had been the one challenged by the suspect who was on foot at the time of the incident.   The accused, a 23 year old male then boarded a public transit. Police arrived and the man was taken off the bus without further issue and arrested. The knife was recovered.

The man is known to police and is now remanded into the Brockville Jail pending a bail review for March 18th. No one was injured in the incident. He faces charges of assault with a weapon and weapons dangerous to the public.
