Arrest Warrant Executed
A 45 year old Brockville man was arrested yesterday morning for an outstanding bench warrant for failing to attend court.
While on patrol officers recognized the man walking along Parkedale Avenue in the area of Kesco Avenue whom they believed had outstanding warrants. Once the warrants were confirmed, officers approached the man and advised him of the outstanding warrants for failing to attend court on other charges and placed him under arrest. While arresting the male a struggle with police ensued and eventually he was taken into custody.
The man was held overnight at the Brockville Police station and will be appearing in Brockville court at 2 pm for a Bail Hearing.
Theft at Wal-Mart
Two Brockville men are facing theft charges as a result of attempting to steal groceries from the Wal-Mart department store on Parkedale Avenue.
Officers were called to Wal-Mart at 5 pm yesterday after the loss prevention officer observed a 55 year old and a 47 year old man select groceries from the shelves in the grocery area of the store. They were followed by staff while they exited the store and made no attempt to pay for the merchandise.
Outside they were arrested without incident and returned to the store where they were turned over to police. The two men were released at the scene and charged with theft under $5000 and given a future court date.
Public Intoxication
Early this morning Brockville Police were called to the Parkedale Avenue Tim Horton’s after staff there became concerned about a man behaving strangely inside.
Approximately 2:15 this morning officer attended the restaurant and located the 31 year old Brockville man in the bathroom of the restaurant. Staff had advised police he had been in the store causing a disturbance by yelling and screaming and in the bathroom banging around making a lot of noise. Upon speaking with the man, it was obvious he was well under the influence of alcohol.
As a result he was arrested for public intoxication and brought to Brockville Police headquarters where he was held until he was sober and released with a provincial offences notice.
