Car Accident /Slippery Roads

A local, 40 year old woman, suffered injuries as a result of a head on, motor vehicle accident, on Laurier Blvd., close to the Windsor Drive intersection.  Her east bound vehicle slid into the path of a west bound vehicle.  Brockville Police attended the area yesterday around 5:00 pm.  She was taken to hospital by ambulance for non-life-threatening injuries.  The other driver was checked at the scene and cleared medically.  Road conditions were a factor in the accident.

 

Noise Complaint/Breach of Recognizance

Failing to attend his door to speak to police officers will lead to charges for a local, 35 year old man.  Brockville Police attended a noise complaint at a south end residence shortly before 1:00 am., this morning.  Officers had received information of yelling, swearing and slamming doors from within the home.  The man associated to the residence is under court conditions to speak to officers when they show up at his door (Operation Door Knock).  As a result, the man will be charged with breaching the conditions of his recognizance along with mischief in regards to interfering with his neighbours enjoyment of their own property.

 

 

January 3, 2017 Incidents

Domestic Assault Arrest

The accused in a domestic assault on New Years day was arrested yesterday at a north end restaurant.  On the 1st at 2:48 am, Brockville Police attended a south end apartment building to speak to the victim.  She had been pushed to the floor of her residence and pinned down, then punched.  On the night in question, the accused was no longer in the area.  Police received information that the male accused, 37 year of age, had reported for work at the eatery mentioned.  He was arrested and charged for assault and taken to Brockville Police headquarters.  The man was held in custody for a bail hearing yesterday.  The victim did not require medical attention.

 

Mental Health

Threatening to hurt herself, a 22 year old woman was apprehended at a local residence after police were notified.  Brockville Police officers arrived at the residence on the 3rd around 2:30 pm.  The young woman had already reportedly stood on the railway tracks for a period of time and then mentioned jumping into traffic. She returned to the residence while police were on route to the call.  Officers escorted the subject to local hospital and left her in the care of medical staff for appropriate intervention.

 

Operation Doorknock

Two local males face charges as a result of being away from their residence while facing court ordered curfews.

“OPERATION DOORKNOCK”, requires certain individuals, charged with criminal offences, to appear at the door of their residence when police attend.  Brockville Police attended multiple homes in the city during early evening hours on January 3rd.  While at two of these homes, the subjects facing a curfew failed to attend their doors when officers arrived.  When dealt with, Brockville Police will release more details.

 

Impaired Driving

A local, 20 year old man, faces charges of driving while impaired by a drug as a result of a parking complaint.  Brockville Police received a complaint of a man refusing to move his vehicle at the Brockville General hospital.  Officers arrived just before 11:00 pm., last night to speak with him.  The young man was showing signs of recent drug use and was taken to the Prescott OPP area to be evaluated by a drug recognition officer.  That officer determined the subject’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by a drug.  Brockville Police returned the man to the hospital after a demand was made for his blood.  He was released with a future court date and the blood samples were sent to the Ontario center of forensic sciences for testing.  The penalties for a conviction are the same for drugs or alcohol.

 

 

 

 

 

 

January 2, 2017 Incidents

Drug Charge

Walking past a police officer while smoking marijuana resulted in drug charges for a local, 24 year old woman.  Brockville Police attended a centrally located apartment building on the 2nd for an unrelated matter.  Shortly before 3:00 pm., an officer noted the woman walking, smoking what appeared to be a marijuana cigarette.

After her arrest, a search of her person turned up a small quantity of marijuana as well as another illegal substance.  She was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.  A short while later, a court date was issued as well as conditions of her release.

 

Breach of Probation

A local, 22 year old male, currently on probation, drew attention to himself while in the Tim Horton’s on Parkedale Ave.He was making excessive noise in the establishment and then left on foot heading west.  Brockville Police officers located the man behind the theater at the 1000 Islands Mall.  An odour of alcohol was detected on his breath during conversation.  He was arrested on the 2nd just after 9:00 pm and charged with breaching his probation order as he was not to consume alcohol.  The man was released later with a future fingerprint and court date.

January 1, 2017 Incidents

Unwanted but wanted

An 18 year old male was arrested last night after attending his mothers address without an invitation. Police were called to attend to assist in dealing with the unwanted party. Upon checking the young mans name on the system it was discovered he had a warrant for his arrest. He was arrested and processed then released with a future court date.

 

Medical Assistance

A 28 year old male needed the help of police last night when he was having concerns for his own safety from himself. Police were alerted to this as a friend was concerned for him and asked police to check on his wellbeing. Upon doing so the man asked police directly to help him and was taken to the hospital for a mental health assessment.

December 30, 2016

Warrant

A North Grenville man was arrested in the area of Pearl West on the authority of an outstanding OPP warrant for theft. The male subject was turned over to the OPP for processing.

 

Mischief

An employee reported that a pane of glass in the front of the Subway store was broken. Police are seeking any witnesses to the incident that occurred 10:00pm at the Subway on Windsor Dr. Please contact the Brockville Police at 613-342-0127 with any information.

 

Assault

An 18 year old male attended to BPS to report that he had been assaulted by ex. girlfriend. The couple had engaged in a dispute in the north end with the accused stricking the victim several times in the face. The suspect was then located and charged with assault.

 

911 Call/warrant

Police responded to a King St. west address for a possible stabbing only to discover that this was not the case. Police then located a 38 year old male that had outstanding warrants for his arrest. He has been held for a show cause hearing.

 

Warrant

A 36 year old female turned herself in to police on her outstanding warrant. She was released with a fututre court date.

December 29, 2016 Incidents

Breach of Probation

On December 8th, a probation warrant was issued by our citys’ probation office in regards to a local, 20 year old male, not following conditions outlined.

Yesterday, around 12:30 pm, the young man turned himself into the Brockville Police to have it dealt with.  Officers arrested and charged the man with breaching his probation order as well as an outstanding recognizance for other probation breaches.

He was held in custody to appear in bail court.

 

Shoplifting

Stealing from a north end box store led to a bail hearing for a local male because he was awaiting court on similar charges.  The 47 year old, was charged twice last year and early this summer with theft.  Three outstanding theft charges and breaching conditions of his release while waiting for court, justified being held in custody rather than being allowed to continue committing offences.  Brockville Police attended the store in question yesterday around 1:00 pm. and arrested the subject for theft and breacing his undertaking.  At the time of this release, it is unknown if the man was remanded into custody or not.

 

Domestic Assault

A domestic dispute which turned physical, resulted in the arrest of a local, 51 year old female.  Brockville Police responded to the dispute on the 29th just after 7:00 pm.  At that time, her boyfriend wanted her removed from the residence as a result of the arguing.  A witness then told police, he had observed the woman strike the male in the side of the face with her hand.  Officers arrested the woman for assault and she was taken into custody.  She was released a short time later and given conditions to abide by along with a future court date.

 

Attempt Entry to Apartment

Brockville Police responded to an attempt break and enter to a north end apartment building.  On the 29th just after 8:00 pm., Officers attended to the victim’s apartment and noted the glass broken out of a basement floor living room window.  There were also pry marks around the window.  The resident was home at the time and may have scared the suspect off.  People in the area heard a car speed away but no description was given.  The apartment was located in the Kyle Court buildings.  If anyone saw anything out of the ordinary at that time, please contact the Brockville Police.

December 28 – 29, 2016 Incidents

Drug Bust

A quantity of drugs and cash have been seized as a result of an observant traffic stop on Christmas Day.  The accused was stopped to check on a condition associated to his driver’s licence.  Brockville Police officer, Cst. Dan Hall, stopped the vehicle that date in the south end of the city shortly after 9:00 pm.  As a result of conversing with the driver, police felt there may be drugs within the car.  The vehicle was seized pending obtaining a search warrant and the male driver along with two female passengers were sent on their way.

On the 28th, police searched the vehicle under the strength of a warrant.  Officers seized almost $2500.00 in cash as well as various controlled substances including cocaine.  The street value of the drugs is close to $5000.00, police have also seized the vehicle for now and may keep it under proceeds of crime legislation.  A local, 43 year old man now faces five counts of trafficking in a drug and breaching outstanding release conditions for charges still before the courts.  One of his female passengers, a local 37 year old, faces two counts of possession of a controlled substance.  The second female passenger will not face charges.

Computer Fraud

Reacting to a warning that his computer needed updating, cost a local man $150.00  The problem appeared legitimate and indicated there was an issue with Microsoft.  Banking information was then provided and the monies were taken out by the fraudsters.  Brockville Police received the complaint on the 28th shortly after 2:00 pm.

Police advise the community to be aware of these and other related frauds to avoid being taken.

 

Assault

A local, 43 year old female, assaulted her grandson’s babysitter after attending a north end residence to visit him.  The babysitter was the child’s other grandmother.  Brockville Police received the complaint yesterday shortly after 3:00 pm.  The accused was not wanted at the residence and a verbal dispute turned physical.  The victim required no medical attention and suffered scratches as a result of the altercation.  Police are now looking to speak to the agressor to obtain her version of the events.

 

Mischief

A north end restaurant suffered mischief to table and chairs from an unruly customer.  Brockville Police received the complaint shortly after midnight today.  There was evidence left behind and video being reviewed.  Police are not revealing any more information as it is directly related to the investigation.

 

 

 

 

 

December 27 – 28, 2016 Incidents

Public Intoxication

Make sure your aware of your destination before taking a taxi.  A local, 32 year old man, entered a cab on the 27th shortly after 11:00 pm.  He was intoxicated and could not remember where he wanted to be dropped off.  The cab driver attended the Brockville Police Service looking for assistance.  Officers arrested and charged the man with public intoxication after more confusion when asking the man questions.  He was released with a fine when sober.

 

Unwanted Person

A local, 32 year old man, was intoxicated and unwelcome when he began banging on an apartment door within a centrally located building.  The resident called Brockville Police to have him removed.  Just before 3:00 am., on the 28th, officers located the accused and arrested him for public intoxication.  He was held until able to look after himself and issued a fine.

 

Accused Arrested in Domestic Assault

Fleeing the city after assaulting his spouse in August, a local man was arrested in the Kawartha Lakes area yesterday.  On August 24th, Brockville Police investigated a serious domestic assault in which the victim suffered a broken nose.  A warrant was issued days later for the arrest of the 42 year old.  He was located yesterday, hiding in a bedroom, when Kawartha Lakes Police attended a residence in their area for an unrelated call.  Brockville Police officers attended their detachment last night and returned the accused for bail court this morning.  He faces charges of assault causing bodily harm and breaching his probation order.

December 24, 2016 Incidents

Disturbance

A 30 year old man was arrested early Saturday morning after causing problems at a South end residence. Police were contacted just after 7:00am on the 24th of December after the male started punching walls and yelling at other people in the home. On arrival, police located the man outside the residence, heavily intoxicated. He was subsequently placed under arrest to prevent a further breach of the peace. Once sober, the man was released from custody unconditionally.

 

Domestic

A 23 year old male is being sought by police in connection to a domestic assault that occurred in the City’s South end early Saturday evening. On the 24th of December at approximately 5:30pm police attended to the downtown residence after being made aware of the incident. As a result of the investigation, the 23 year old male is now wanted by police for Domestic Assault and various Court Order breaches. The female victim did not require medical assistance.

 

Mental Health Act

A 36 year old female was apprehended by police late Saturday evening after threatening suicide. At approximately 10:30pm police were called to a center town address where the female was causing problems and threatening self-harm. Concerned for her wellbeing, police apprehended the female under the Mental Health Act and escorted her to Brockville General Hospital for assessment.

 

December 23, 2016 Incidents

Liquor Licence Act

Excessive alcohol consumption led to the arrest of a local, 47 year old man early Friday afternoon. Police received several calls around 2:30pm,on the 23rd of December, concerning the intoxicated male, who was having difficulty walking on Stewart Blvd in the center of the City. The male was located by police and subsequently arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. He was later released with a fine, once sober.

 

Breach of Probation

A 17 year old male was arrested for breaching the conditions of his Probation late Friday evening. On the 23rd of December at approximately 11:30pm, as a result of a RIDE check, police located the Youth out past his curfew, as set out in his Probation Order.The male was subsequently arrested and charged with Breach of Probation and released with a future Court date.

 

Designate a Driver

Brockville Police Service continue to urge the Public to ensure everyone designate a sober driver, arrange a ride or take a taxi if they have been consuming alcohol or drugs. Last night, RIDE checks were set up at various locations throughout the City. As a result of these efforts, 2 males were arrested in unrelated incidents for being in possession of a Controlled Substance. Police are reminding the Public that Impaired Driving can be determined by either alcohol or drug and the Brockville Police Service will continue their efforts to locate impaired drivers throughout this Holiday Season.
