August 11 – 12, 2015 Incidents

Fraud

On August 11th at approximately 8:35 pm, Brockville Police responded to a fraud complaint at the Superstore.

Two males and a female were attempting to buy VISA cards using other fraudulent credit cards. The transactions failed and the parties left before Police could locate them.

One of the males is described as thin, black hair with a brush cut. The female had long black hair and there was no description of the third party. They fled the area in a black SUV type vehicle which had Quebec licence plates attached, Licence number, FKF4775.

 

Accident

On August 12th at approximately 7:00 am, Brockville Police attended an accident on California Avenue at Parkedale Avenue.

A local, 21 year female, was struck by a vehicle while on her bicycle. She suffered a small laceration on one of her legs and was taken to hospital for treatment. The incident is still under investigation at this time.

Public Assistance

Brockville Police are looking for the Public’s help – Three complete sets of patio furniture were taken from inside the Tall Ships building. They were last seen on June 24th. The sets consisted of six piece outdoor couches and matching coffee tables, dark brown in colour. The brand name was ‘Portofino’.

If anyone has any information, please give us a call. The total loss is approx. $9,000.00

 

August 10 – 11, 2015 Incidents

Ambulance Assist

On August 10th at approximately 8:35 pm, Brockville Police responded to an apartment complex in the south end of the city to assist a distraught male.

The 63 year old, had slashed one of his wrists. Police and ambulance attendants escorted the male to the hospital for treatment and appropriate follow up.

 

Noise Complaint

On August 11th at approximately 1:15 am, Brockville Police attended a noise complaint at a south end apartment building.

A local, 18 year old female, was noted to have been consuming alcohol which was in violation of her release conditions from outstanding charges. She was released from custody later in the morning with a future court date.

Police also located a 20 year old male in the residence and discovered he was on court conditions. He was not to be communicating with the female, could not consume alcohol and was to be of good behaviour.

This party was arrested and charged for breaching those conditions and will appear in bail court later today.

Public Assistance

Mischief

Brockville Police are seeking the Public’s help in a local mischief.

In the early morning hours of August 9th, unknown person(s), smashed glass in the storefront of the Army Surplus store on King Street West.

August 7 – 9, 2015 Incidents

Impaired Driver

On August 7th at approximately 8:45 pm, Brockville Police stopped an E-Bike being driven erratically on city streets.

The male operator was impaired and was already a disqualified driver. A probation order was still in place as well and he was found to breaching same.

The local, 28 year old, was arrested and charged with impaired operation, over .08%, driving while disqualified and the breach of his probation order. He was released early the next day with a future court date and the bike was impounded.

 

Unlawfully at Large

On August 7th at approximately 8:45 pm, Brockville Police were notified by Correctional staff at the Brockville Jail that a male party had not attended to serve his weekend sentence.

The 42 year old, Prescott resident, now has a warrant in place for his arrest as he is unlawfully at large.

 

Disturb the Peace

On August 7th at approximately 9:30 pm, Brockville Police attended an apartment building in the south end of the city after receiving information of two females fighting.

The women, 51 and 52 years of age, both reside in the building and engaged in an argument which turned physical. The 51 year old, was arrested to prevent a further breach of the peace. She was released later with no charges after Police felt the situation has calmed down.

 

Male Arrested

On August 8th in the early afternoon, Brockville Police received information from Canada Border Services, that they had arrested a male party crossing back into Canada.

The local, 51 year old, had a warrant for his arrest that was held by our Service. Charges had been laid stemming from an investigation in June of this year. A bail hearing will take place to determine release conditions or remaining in custody.

 

Impaired Driver

On August 8th at approximately 9:50 pm, Brockville Police performed a traffic stop on King Street East.

The local, 29 year old male driver, was asked to provide a breath sample into a roadside screening device. He complied and registered a fail. After his arrest, he provided two breath samples which were both almost double the legal limit. He was released later with a future court date and the vehicle was impounded.

 

Domestic Dispute

On August 8th at approximately 10:30 pm, Brockville Police responded to a domestic complaint at a north end apartment building.

A local, 37 year old female, was engaged in a dispute with her male partner. She assaulted him as a result and was also breaching conditions of an undertaking for outstanding charges. She was arrested and charged for assault and breach of the undertaking. Early on August 9th, she was released with on conditions with a future court date. The male suffered no injuries as a result of the incident.

 

Ambulance Assist

On August 8th at approximately 11:45 pm, Brockville Police along with ambulance attendants attended a south end apartment building in regards to an unresponsive female.

A local, 33 year old female, was taken to hospital for treatment. Police are unsure what she may have ingested.

 

Impaired Driver

On August 9th at approximately 2:20 am, Brockville Police performed a traffic stop on Bennett Street.

The driver, a local 22 year old female, provided a breath sample into a roadside device and registered a fail. She was arrested for impaired driving and driving over the legal limit. The vehicle was impounded and the female was released later in the day with a future court date.

While Brockville Police were dealing with the traffic stop mentioned above, officers came close to being struck by another motor vehicle.

That vehicle was subsequently stopped and Police dealt with the male driver. A local, 27 year old male, was arrested for impaired driving and driving over .08%. His readings were triple the legal limit. His vehicle was impounded and he was released when sober with a future court date.

 

Public Intoxication

On August 9th at approximately 4:40 am, Brockville Police dealt with an intoxicated male on Home Street.

The local, 39 year old, was arrested for causing a disturbance. He then decided to resist arrest. Police had received calls of the male yelling and he would not settle down. He was released when sober with a future court date.

 

Breach of Conditions

On August 9th at approximately 10:00 am, Brockville Police dealt with a female party in a park in the center area of the city.

The local, 16 year old, was on release conditions from outstanding charges. One of the conditions prohibited communication with a local male.   When being spoken to by Police, the male was in her company. She was arrested and charged with breaching her conditions and will appear in bail court today.

August 6 – 7, 2015 Incidents

Warrant

The Brockville Police attended to a residence on Brock Street yesterday afternoon at approximately 1 p.m. to execute a warrant for a 37 year old male who was wanted by the Gananoque Police Service. The male subject was inside the residence and surrendered to police without incident.

 

Domestic Dispute

At approximately 1:15 p.m. Brockville Police attended to an apartment complex in the City centre on a complaint of a domestic disturbance. It was learned a 27 year old Brockville man during the argument had destroyed furniture and other household items and at the time of the incident was on probation. As a result, he was arrested and charged for mischief and breach of probation and will appear for a bail hearing.

 

Fire

Last evening at approximately 10 p.m. the Brockville Police attended to 80 Water Street West to assist the Brockville Fire Department. A small chair in one of the apartments had burned as a result of careless smoking. The resident was transported by Leeds Grenville EMS to Brockville General Hospital due to minor injuries suffered as a result of the fire.

 

Ribfest

Members of the Brockville Police were active on community patrol for the opening of Ribfest. There was only one minor incident where a 23 year old female was dealt with for a liquor infraction.

 

Assist Ambulance

At approximately 11:45 p.m. officers responded to a call in the City’s north end to assist ambulance where the resident was concerned about the well-being of a family member. The 30 year old male was having a reaction to drugs he had taken earlier in the day and with police assistance was transported to Brockville General Hospital for observation. The drugs were seized for analysis.

 

August 5 – 6, 2015 Incidents

Domestic Dispute

At approximately 1:45 p.m. Brockville Police attended to an apartment complex in the City’s north end for a report of a domestic disturbance. On police arrival it was learned the young couple had been arguing, and the 19 year old male victim had been assaulted by his common law, 19 year old girlfriend. During the argument the female also smashed his phone.   The young woman was arrested for assault and mischief under $5,000 and released on several conditions with a future court date.

 

Circus Protestors

Brockville Police received two phone calls with regards to protestors at the Brockville Memorial Centre in relation to the Shriners Circus taking place there. The complainants reported the protestors were getting too close to the animals. Police attended and spoke with the protestors who were from the Ottawa area. They denied being too close but agreed to stand back in an agreed-upon area while they continued their protest.

 

Shoplifting

At approximately 4:30 p.m. a 23 year old female Brockville resident was arrested at Wal-Mart department store with an estimated $300 worth of cosmetics. She was released with a later court date.

 

August 4th, 2015 Incidents

Drug Offence

On August 4th at approximately 4:45 pm, Brockville Police in conjunction with the OPP Street Team, executed a search warrant at a residence on Front Avenue.

Members of the Emergency Response Team and the Drugs and Intelligence Office dismantled a grow operation and seized a large quantity of marijuana and cultivating equipment. The drugs seized have a street value in the area of 25,000 to 30,000 dollars. The residents of the property, a 26 year old male and a 25 year old female, have both been arrested and charged with Production of a Controlled Substance. They face a future court date.

 

Break and Enter

On August 4th at approximately 10:50 am, Brockville Police took a complaint of a Break and Enter to a south end residence.

Jewelry, liquor and other items were removed from the house while residents were away. Investigation has led to the discovery of a local, 15 year old male as the responsible party. Police are currently seeking the youth for his arrest in regards to the incident. He is also currently on a probation order for past offences and faces a breach of that order as well.

July 31 – August 3, 2015 Incidents

Shoplifting

On Friday, July 31, 2015, a 48 year old Brockville man was arrested at Wal-Mart department store for shoplifting. On police arrival the male was searched as part of the arrest for some of the items when the male produced three small bags of suspected cocaine from his pockets. In addition to the theft charge, the male also faces charges of possession of a controlled substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

 

Break and Enter

Later on Friday evening a 19 year old Brockville woman was arrested while attempting to break into her ex-boyfriend’s residence with whom she is on conditions not to communicate with. The young lady was arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000 and breaching her undertaking for previous charges.

 

Weapons Offence

In the early morning hours of Sunday, August 2, 2015, the Brockville Police while conducting a RIDE program noticed the passenger in one vehicle attempting to conceal a knife. Officers removed the man from the vehicle and seized the knife. The male was identified as a 29 year old London resident and was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon. It was also learned that he was before the courts on previous charges and was further charged for beaching his undertaking.

 

Fire

At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2015, the Brockville Police received a call of a small fire outside of apartment 406 at 44 Central Avenue in Brockville. The fire was extinguished prior to police arrival at the building. Domestic Dispute

Shortly after midnight on Monday, August 3, 2015, the Brockville Police responded to a domestic disturbance in the city’s north end. It was learned that during the argument the 25 year old male became angry with his spouse and threw her laptop computer into the bathtub. As a result the young man was arrested for mischief under $5,000 and given a later court date.
