Mental Health Act

On November 18th, 2020 at 4:33 PM officers from C-platoon pulled a suicidal male to safety from the William Street overpass.  The 51 year old male place a call to the complainant stating that they would be the last person to ever hear from him and he was walking to the nearest bridge to end his life.  The male was located on the overpass with half his body hanging over the railing.  While he was distracted by the first two responding officers, two other officers approached from behind and pulled him to safety.  The male was then brought to the Brockville General Hospital for an assessment.  It was through Cst. Gamble, Cst. Fearon, Cst. McCullough and Sgt. Borgford’s actions that prevented this incident from ending tragically.

Several of these officers were involved in dealing with a suicidal female at the same location approximately one month ago.

Over the 48 hour period from November 18-20, officers dealt with 4 mental health apprehensions.
