Male Wanted in Connection with Pharmacy Theft

A 36 year old Brockville man is wanted in connection to separate reports of thefts from different pharmacies yesterday.

At 3:20 p.m. yesterday officers attended to the Rexall Pharma Plus on William Street where staff observed a male attempting to steal razors from the store and fled when he was approached by staff. Security video was obtained from the store and it was determined other items were taken by the man who is known to and identified by police.

At 5:20 p.m. yesterday afternoon Brockville Police received another call from the Shopper’s Drug Mart at the 1000 Islands Mall where a male matching the same description was observed by staff selecting items off the shelves and concealing them and fleeing the store. Officers and staff were not able to locate the man after he fled but security footage determined it was the man from the earlier incident at Rexall.

This same man was involved in a third incident later in the evening in an altercation with another man outside of the library at 7:45 p.m. but had again fled the area before officers arrived.

The man who is well known to police is described as skinny, in his 30’s, dark circles under his eyes, and yesterday was wearing a dark sweatshirt with a hoodie. He was riding his bicycle around the city yesterday at two of the occurrences.

Breach of Probation

A 31 year old man who recently moved to Brockville was arrested yesterday evening at 9:30 pm when he was found stumbling up the hill on Perth Street and officers stopped him to check on his well-being.

When officers stopped the man, they detected a strong odour of alcohol on his breath and found him to be well under the influence of alcohol. Eventually they were able to confirm his identity and learned he was on probation with a condition that he abstains from consuming alcohol.

As a result he was placed under arrest for breaching his probation and conveyed to the Brockville Police Service where he was held overnight until sober and released in the morning with a future court date.
