The Brockville Police Service continues to receive complaints from citizens in regards to threatening phone calls from the Canada Revenue Agency. The phone calls threaten time in jail if monies owed are not paid back.
Recently, some of the numbers appearing on people’s phones are showing as a local call. This scam has been taking place for a while now in our city. We encourage people not to act on these requests for money. Contact the Canada Revenue Agency directly, speak to a relative or family friend to seek advice but do not forward funds.
