Impaired Driving is our country’s number one criminal cause of death and injury of innocent Canadians each year. Formed in 1992, M.A.D.D. (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) Canada is a registered Canadian Charitable Organization, which is a non-profit volunteer directed organization with a mission to stop Impaired Driving and support the victims of such a violent crime.

Supporters of M.A.D.D. Canada deliver a comprehensive approach to solving this widespread problem of drinking and driving. This program provides increased education and public awareness of the seriousness of Impaired Driving – legislative changes to ensure there are more effective laws and more efficient practices, continuous enforcement of laws and numerous programs and policies that effectively deal with education of youth on the subject of responsible drinking habits and sober driving.

M.A.D.D. is becoming a growing concern because Canadians are now realizing that we must fight together what is becoming our national tragedy – the thousands of innocent Canadians each year who are killed and injured as the result of an impaired driver.

It is with the tireless volunteer efforts that M.A.D.D. Canada is now recognized as the national voice for victims whose lives have been affected by alcohol-related crashes. Its chapters do not only include mothers, but fathers, siblings, friends, experts and concerned citizens who want to make a difference and who participate in this fight.

Goal #1 Stop impaired driving, reduce the number of alcohol related fatalities and serious injuries

M.A.D.D. receives its funds in many different ways, including individual donors, corporate donors, memorial donations and community fund-raising. With such endless contributions, M.A.D.D. is able to organize many other campaigns such as Project RED RIBBON, where drivers display a red ribbon on their vehicle in support of sober driving, or the Signs of Summer campaign, in which local businesses display sober driving messages in their windows throughout the summer months.

M.A.D.D. draws on its strength, energy and leadership of its volunteers. Its message to the community is that driving is a privilege, not a right, and impaired driving crashes are not accidents.
