Police week began in 1970 involving a collaborative effort between the Federal Ministry of the Solicitor General and its provincial counterparts. “Police Week” is held annually close to the week of May 15th, since that date is recognized internationally as Peace Officer Memorial Day to recognize officers killed in the line of duty.
The purpose of Police Week is to demonstrate to the public our role in the community. This week is dedicated to strengthening police/community ties and to demonstrate to our citizens the services theBrockville Police Service provide. Now, Police and Safe Community Week helps to provide effective policing in Brockville throughout the year. Working together benefits everyone and partnerships are built through interaction of police services, individuals, organizations and institutions which all share a responsibility for the well being of the community.
