The Unmanned Aerial Support Unit consists of members from general patrol and specialty units for broader deployment coverage while utilizing drone technology.

The Unit is able to assist in a multitude of calls for service and investigations which may include;

· Missing person investigations

· Water and ice-related emergencies

· Crime scene documentation

· Active and ongoing investigations

· Grid searches

· Support during large public events

The Unmanned Aerial Support Unit allows officers to access difficult areas, gather critical information quickly, and enhance public safety.

Officers assigned to the Unit have completed and routinely participate in ongoing training. Each operator has obtained an Advanced Operations Remotely Piloted Aircraft Pilot Certificate through Transport Canada.

The Unmanned Aerial Support Unit plays a vital role in supporting frontline and investigative operations.
