A Message from the Chief
The Brockville Police Service is a highly trained and effective police service. We are governed by a Police Services Board under the Ontario Police Services Act. The Board consists of members appointed by both City Council and the Province of Ontario. The Board provides strategic guidance and oversight while operational decisions are the responsibility of the Chief of Police.
The Brockville Police Service comprises of an authorized strength of 41 sworn police officers and 30 civilians (full and part-time) providing twenty-four hour a day patrol, emergency response, criminal investigations, court services, and community policing initiatives. Both our patrol officers and criminal investigators are trained to the same standard as all officers serving anywhere in the province. We are primarily responsible for policing the City of Brockville but often work with neighbouring police agencies in joint projects addressing common public safety threats.
Adequate and Effective policing is a basic tenant of the Ontario Police Services Act. The Brockville Police Service strives to ensure that the citizens of Brockville are provided with the same level of service expected by all Ontarians.
The Brockville Police commitment is specifically tailored to our community. We know Brockville and adapt our policing specifically to its needs, demographics and unique challenges. We respect the concerns of individual citizens. We trust that we demonstrate the benefits of being policed by a professional police service, highly visible and responsive to community needs.
