Fire

Police are unable to determine the owner of a chair discovered on fire near the rail crossing on Park Street.  Brockville Police along with the Brockville Fire Department attended the area on the 19th just before noon.  Officers could not locate any witnesses in the area and are unsure of a motive.

 

Impaired Driving

A local, 31 year old man, has been charged with care and control of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol consumption.  Brockville Police, on general patrol, observed a vehicle stuck in a snowbank on Stewart Blvd. at Front Avenue.  The accused was standing nearby and admitted to being the operator.  The man lost control and spun out at about 9:30 pm., on the 19th.  He was arrested shortly afterwards and taken to the station for breath tests.  Breath samples obtained registered almost three times the legal limit.  The subject was released in the morning with a future court date.

 

Public Intoxication

Causing problems while a passenger in a motor vehicle led to the arrest of a local, 19 year old man.  The accused was intoxicated and got into a verbal dispute with the female driver.  She wanted him out of the vehicle but he refused to leave resulting in police being contacted.  Brockville Police attended the north end apartment building lot on the 19th just before midnight.  Officers noted the subject was intoxicated and not very co-operative.  He was arrested and charged with public intoxication.  He was issued a fine when sober and sent on his way.
