Mischief
A local youth was arrested after breaking the glass out of a door and threatening staff while at school. Brockville Police attended the local high school in the afternoon of November 1st, after a complaint of the 15 year old male becoming upset and causing some mischief as well as threatening staff.
The youth was diverted on the charges of mischief and threatening staff. He will take part in programs agreed to by police and his parents in lieu of going through the court process.
The charges can still be brought up if the youth fails to meet the obligations set out for him.
Domestic Dispute
A local 48 year old man was arrested after a dispute with his spouse. Brockville Police attended the residence around 10:30 pm, on November 1st and noted the man was intoxicated and causing problems in the home. He was arrested to prevent a further breach of the peace and released without charges the following morning.
Medical Assistance
A local 32 year old man was conveyed to hospital after passing out. Brockville Police attended a central-west street along with ambulance staff after a report of a man passed out in the area. Responses to questions were difficult to obtain but Officers did find a needle on his person. He was conveyed to hospital for appropriate care. Police are unaware of what caused his medical condition.
Warrant Executed
A local 18 year old woman was arrested after not showing up for fingerprints.
In July of this year, Brockville Police charged the female with stealing from a local department store. She was released on conditions at that time and given a date in early August to attend for fingerprinting. After failing to attend, a warrant was issued for her arrest.
On November 2nd around 11:00 am, she turned herself in to police. The warrant was executed and the charge of failing to attend was laid. A new court date is now pending after she was released from custody.
Mental Health
Staff at a local hospital called police after a patient threatened them with a dinner utensil and a cane.
At approximately 1:00 pm, on November 2nd, Brockville Police attended the hospital on Garden Street after a local 77 year old man started waving his cane at staff as well as a butter knife. Officers spoke to the man, then escorted him to the Hospital’s Charles Street location to have his mental health evaluated.
No one was struck or suffered any injuries during the incident.
Warrants
A local 48 year old man was arrested on outstanding warrants after an off-duty Special Constable observed the individual leaving a center area department store.
Brockville Police had charged the male in 2015 for theft from a north end box store and breaching his probation. A missed court appearance in October resulted in a warrant for his arrest.
On November 2nd, just after 5:00 pm, the Brockville court officer observed the man leaving a store and contacted police headquarters. The man fled the location of foot but was arrested close after surrendering himself to police when surrounded.
He was held for a bail hearing the next day.
Breach of Conditions
A local 52 year old woman was arrested Wednesday after drawing attention to herself which annoyed her neighbours.
Brockville Police attended the south end apartment building around 8:30 pm, after complaints of the woman yelling in her apartment. When officers were speaking to her, it was discovered she had been consuming alcohol. Awaiting court on outstanding charges, she had numerous conditions to abide by which included no alcohol and an onus to keep the peace and behave.
She was arrested and charged with breaching the conditions of her undertaking and released later with a future court date.
Fraud
Trying to pass a fraudulent credit card resulted in the arrest of an Ottawa area man on Thursday afternoon. Brockville Police arrested the 32 year old around 3:00 pm, while he was driving away from a north end box store. The male had attended several stores in the city and was successful in obtaining merchandise using a fraudulent credit card. Employees at his last stop felt something wasn’t right and contacted police. It was then discovered the man was in the country on a student visa that had expired. He was wanted by both the Ottawa and Cornwall Police Services for similar crimes. A bail hearing will take place on November 8th.
Aside from the other police services looking to return the man, immigration officials are looking to deport the accused back to Nigeria.
Warrants
A local 19 year old man was arrested by Kingston Police on Thursday and returned to Brockville for outstanding warrants.
Early in the evening, officers from Brockville attended Kingston and arrested the man for an incident which took place in early June this year at a downtown convenience store. On that date, at approximately 11:00 pm, Brockville officers observed the man walking away from a group of men after police stopped to talk to them. It was discovered he was on conditions of a recognizance from two different sets of charges. Both release papers included a curfew, one starting at 9 pm, and the other at 10 pm. Officers tried to locate the man at the time but had no luck.
He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
