Impaired Operation by Drugs
On July 20, 2025, at about 7:00am, police received a 911 call in regards to two males passed out in a vehicle, with one behind the wheel, in the area of the Petro Canada on Stewart Boulevard. It was also learned that the driver was asleep with a bong in their lap.
Officers arrived and found the driver as described. The driver was identified to be a 44-year-old, male out of Cornwall. They were assessed with a Standard Field Sobriety Test, which resulted in him performing poorly. A search of the vehicle yielded firearm ammunition that was not properly stored. He was arrested and taken to the Brockville Police Service for additional testing by a Drug Recognition Expert. It was confirmed that the driver was in fact impaired by drugs. His driver’s licence was suspended after being charged with operation while impaired by drugs, careless storage of ammunition and released with a future court date.
Assault on a City By-law Officer Results in Charges
On July 18, 2025, at about 12:15pm, police received a 911 call in relation to a Brockville City By-law officer being assaulted in the area of the Library.
Investigation revealed that the By-law officer approached a 48-year-old, male in regards to him parking his vehicle in an Accessible Parking space, without a permit. At that time, the subject became irate as he began to scream in the By-law officer’s face and pushed him, knocking his phone out of his hands after attempting to record the interaction. The subject then left the scene shortly after and was not seriously injured.
The 48-year-old, male was located a short time later and placed under arrest. He was released with a future court date after being charged with assault.
