Structure Fire on Bennett Street

On August 27, 2025, at about 2:00pm, police received a request to assist with an active fire at the residence of 51 Bennett Street. Emergency services attended the area including Brockville Fire Department and Leeds Grenville Paramedics.

Investigation revealed that all individuals made it out of the residence and no one was injured. The exact cause of the fire has not been determined; however, initial findings indicate that there is nothing suspicious to the cause.

Female Charged for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle

 On August 26, 2025, at about 3:30pm, police received a call in relation to a female apparently passing out behind the wheel of a car. The vehicle was in the parking lot of a business on Central Avenue.

Investigation revealed that the driver was a 36-year-old, female who was observed to be under the influence of drugs. There was also a quantity of drugs and other paraphernalia in view within the vehicle. These items were seized and the substance was sent for testing to determine its exact composition. The driver was placed under arrest and taken to the Brockville Police Service for an examination by a Drug Recognition Expert. There, she performed poorly on the testing, which resulted in her being charged with operation while impaired by drugs and possession of substance in Schedule I. She was released with a future court date.

Dispute at Local Business Results in Assault Charges

On August 22, 2025, at about 2:30pm, police received a 911 call in relation to a customer who had assaulted an employee at a local business in the North end of Brockville. A 66-year-old, male attended the business to dispute services he was billed for. The male was agitated on arrival, belligerent with staff and found to have been under the influence of alcohol.

One staff member attempted to calm the situation and escort the male out of the store. This resulted in the subject turning nose to nose and then shove the staff member. At that point a physical altercation ensued that ended shortly after. No one was seriously injured and the subject left the store.

Police attended the area and located the subject nearby. He was placed under arrest, which he initially resisted, but officers quickly gained control. The male was learned to be on various court-imposed conditions through bail and probation. As a result, the male was held for a bail hearing after being charged with assault, resist arrest, fail to comply with release order, fail to comply with probation and public intoxication.
