Arrest Made After Disturbance Between a Couple
On December 6, 2025, at approximately 9:30 am, police responded to a call regarding a physical altercation between a couple at a residence on King Street East.
Upon arrival, officers heard a disturbance inside the home involving a 38-year-old male and a female. Evidence at the scene indicated a physical altercation had occurred, and visible injuries were observed on the female. The male was arrested as he attempted to leave the residence. He initially resisted arrest, but officers quickly gained control.
The investigation revealed that the couple had been arguing intermittently for approximately two days prior to the incident. During this time, the male attempted to ignite a blanket the female was using, causing a superficial burn injury. On the day of the call, the female was strangled by the male. When the male believed police were on route to the scene, he smashed a mirror and attempted to barricade the door; however, officers found the door ajar upon arrival.
The male was found to be on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. The female sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing and has been charged with the following offences:
- Assault with a weapon
- Assault causing bodily harm – strangling
- Obstruct peace officer
- Mischief under $5,000.00
- Fail to comply with probation
Arrest Made in Drug Impaired Driving Incident
On December 6, 2025, at approximately 4:30 pm, police responded to a report of a female who appeared unconscious and partially hanging out of the driver’s window of a vehicle parked in a lot near Parkedale Avenue and Stewart Boulevard.
Officers located the vehicle and the female in question. She initially provided a false name; however, officers recognized her as a 24-year-old female who was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to comply with probation conditions.
The female was arrested on the warrant and further investigated for impaired driving. During a search, officers located a quantity of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia. She was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert, and testing determined she was impaired by drugs.
As a result, the vehicle was impounded, driver’s licence was suspended and she was released with a future court date. Her charges include the following:
- Operation while impaired by drugs
- Possession of a substance – fentanyl
- Obstruct peace officer
