Police Respond to Threatening Calls at Walmart

Police responded to two separate threatening phone calls received by staff at Walmart on the afternoon and evening of April 26, 2026.

At approximately 4:30pm, police were notified that Walmart staff had received a phone call from a subject claiming that explosive devices had been placed inside the store. As a precaution, the store was safely evacuated, and officers attended immediately. The OPP EDU (Explosive Disposal Unit) was consulted, and a thorough assessment of the premises was conducted. No suspicious items were located, and there were no injuries.

Police were later notified of a second threatening call at approximately 8:00pm, believed to be from the same individual. Officers again promptly attended the area, and conducted a detailed sweep of the store after it had been cleared. The building was determined to be safe, and staff were able to complete end‑of‑day procedures under police supervision. All employees exited the store without incident.

Investigators have determined that no devices or weapons were present at any time. The matter remains under investigation as police continue to attempt to identify the source of the calls. There have been multiple reports that are similar in nature in other jurisdictions; however, any links to those investigations has not been determined.

Police take all threats seriously and respond with an abundance of caution to promote the safety of all involved. The public is reminded to be aware regardless of any threat, and in the event of any immediate concern for safety, call 911.

Female Arrested After Incident Involving Intimate Partner Violence

On April 26, 2026, at approximately 3:30pm, police received a call from a male stating that he had been assaulted by his 24-year-old, girlfriend, at a residence on Reynolds Drive.

Officers attended the residence and spoke with both parties involved. The investigation determined that the female had assaulted the male by striking him on the arm and spitting on him. During the altercation, the victim’s glasses were damaged. Any injuries sustained were considered minor and non‑life‑threatening.

The female was arrested and transported to the Brockville Police Service for further investigation. As a result, she was charged with two counts of Assault and one count of Mischief Under $5,000.00. She was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Arrests Made in Multiple Impaired Driving Incidents

On April 25, 2026, at approximately 12:30am, an officer observed a vehicle traveling at a slow rate of speed on Parkedale Avenue. The driver also pulled over to the side of the road for no apparent reason.

The officer conducted a vehicle stop and spoke to a 40-year-old, female driving the vehicle. The officer observed that the driver had been consuming alcohol from the symptoms being displayed. Shortly after the driver was placed under arrest for impaired driving. She was taken to the Brockville Police Service for testing.

The breath samples taken confirmed that the driver was intoxicated. The vehicle was impounded, driver’s licence suspended and charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg. She was released with a future court date.

Additionally;

On April 25, 2026 at approximately 11:15pm, police were on patrol on Perth Street, when a vehicle was observed parked in a position that was blocking the entrance to the Via Rail station. The officer approached the vehicle that had multiple occupants, with the driver being a 22-year-old, male.

It was determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol previously, and a breath sample was taken from the driver, which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and transported to the Brockville Police Service for additional testing. Those tests confirmed that he was operating while impaired.

As a result, the vehicle was impounded, driver’s licence suspended and the driver was charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg. He was released with a future court date.
