Shoplifters Apprehended
A pair of shoplifters was arrested yesterday at the Real Canadian Superstore in two separate incidents after being apprehended by the stores Loss Prevention Officers.
In the first incident, Brockville Police were contacted approximately 11:15 am when the stores Loss Prevention officer spotted a 19 year old Lyn area man selecting merchandise from the shelves and leave the store without making payment. He was approached by security outside the store and confronted about the theft and returned to the office until police arrived.
The man was released from custody at the scene and charged under the Trespass to Property Act for Engaging in a Prohibited Activity.
Police were again contacted by Loss Prevention Staff at the Superstore at 5:15 pm yesterday afternoon after a 26 year old Addison woman was apprehended.
Loss Prevention staff confronted the woman outside the store after she was observed taking items from the store shelves and leaving without paying. When officers arrived the woman was charged as well with Engaging in a Prohibited Activity under the Trespass to Property Act.
More Vehicle Mischiefs from the Weekend
Brockville Police received 2 more complaints of vehicles being damaged over the weekend.
Tuesday afternoon a resident of William Street contacted police to report that sometime over the weekend someone keyed the driver’s door and stole the antennae from his Ford F150 pick-up truck which was parked in his driveway
Shortly after Brockville Police took this report, an employee of Industrial Electric contacted police to report over the weekend suspects attempted to gain entry to one of their service vehicles parked in the lot and damage to the passenger door.
Brockville Police are asking for the public’s assistance to identify the persons responsible for recent spike in thefts, and damage to vehicles over the past couple of weeks. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 613-342-0127 or Crimestoppers at 1-888-222-8477.
Please do not make your vehicle a target of would be thieves. Items such as smartphones, personal electronics, work tools, credit cards or identification, garage door openers, sunglasses, cash and keys are popular items stolen from cars. Do not leave these articles where they can be seen or store spare sets of keys in your vehicle.
Park your vehicle in a secure and well-lit area or in your garage with the garage door pulled down. Finally, please make sure to lock your vehicle when leaving it.
