Arrest from 2016 Theft
Ottawa Police arrested a 27 year old Ottawa man in connection to a February 2016 theft from Wal-Mart department store in Brockville and turned him over to Brockville Police yesterday evening.
On the 18th of February 2016 the 27 year old accused was observed by Loss Prevention officers in the store taking electronics items from the store and placing them in a tote bag before fleeing the store. Outside, he was approached by Loss Prevention officers when he fled into a waiting Honda Odyssey with over $2700 worth of merchandise and sped away.
Officers from the Brockville Police attended and investigated and were able to identify the 27 year old as being responsible for the theft and issued a warrant for his arrest. At the time of the Brockville theft in February 2016, the man was already facing charges in Ottawa for theft and at large on a Recognizance of Bail.
Yesterday, officers in Ottawa were dealing with him on a separate investigation and arrested him on the Brockville Police warrant. He will be appearing later today in Bail court in Brockville.
Public Intoxication
A 44 year old Brockville man was arrested late yesterday afternoon after a call of a person hanging around the front door of a local business on King Street.
At 5:30 p.m. Brockville Police received a call about a man on King St West between Victoria Avenue and Court House who appeared to be in distress and intoxicated by either drugs or alcohol. Officers attended and located the man at the intersection of King and Buell Streets and found him to be under the influence of alcohol and not able to care for himself.
As a result he was arrested for public intoxication and conveyed to the Brockville Police Station where he stayed until he was sober and released on a Provincial Offences notice.
