Brockville Man turns himself in at HQ
A 54 year old Brockville man attended to the Brockville Police at the police station Monday afternoon after learning there was an outstanding warrant for his arrest for failing to appear in court on Friday January 26th.
The man who is before the courts on fraud related charges failed to appear in court when his name was called and as a result a warrant was issued for his arrest. Just before 5:00 p.m. yesterday he attended the front desk of the police station and turned himself in.
He was charged with failing to attend court and released from custody with a new court date on all of his charges.
Disturbance calls lead to arrest
Brockville Police responded to a couple of complaints of two men fighting and causing a disturbance in the area of Perth and Downey Streets last evening resulting in a 27 year old man being arrested.
Officers were first called around 8:30 p.m. when the caller reported seeing the two men fighting and arguing at an apartment in the area. The caller added the 27 year old man was intoxicated and refusing to leave. When officers were enroute, a second call was received about an intoxicated male walking on Perth Street toward the VIA Station, with a bloodied face.
The young man was located and found to be very intoxicated and as a result he was arrest for his own safety for Public Intoxication and conveyed to the Brockville Police Service and held until sober. He was released in the morning with a Provincial Offences Notice.
Driver Provides False Name Arrested
A 21 year old North Augusta woman is facing charges of personation and breaching her probation today as a result of providing police with a false name during a traffic stop last evening on Parkedale Avenue.
The woman who was travelling with her two children and boyfriend in a green 2006 Pontiac G6 on Parkedale Avenue near California Avenue was stopped for a highway traffic violation by officers. She did not have identification with her but provided officers with her name and particulars. When the officer returned to his car and checked the name provided to him, he realized the woman had provided him with a false name. He returned to the car and spoke with the driver and placed her under arrest for personation and learned the driver’s actual name.
She was conveyed to the Brockville Police Station where she was charged with personation, breach of her probation and a number of Highway Traffic Act offences. The children were left in car of her boyfriend and arrangements were made for the children’s grandparents to pick them up.
The woman was released from custody a short time later with a future court date.
