Stabbing Update

On May 10th 2021 the Brockville Police investigated a stabbing at King Street West and Apple Street where a 23-year-old male was stabbed in the abdomen by a known suspect.  The victim was transported to Kingston General Hospital for treatment of his serious injuries.  Since that time the male has been released and is recovering at home.

On May 17, 2021 around 9:00 AM the 20-year-old accused male surrendered to police for the offence.  He will appear in court for a bail hearing later today.

Impaired

On May 16th at 6:23 PM the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a fail to remain traffic collision on Dana Street.  A parked vehicle had been struck and the suspect vehicle fled the scene.  The suspect vehicle was located a short distance away.  The 79-year-old male driver was spoken to in regards to the accident.  The officers detected an odour of an alcoholic beverage on the driver’s breath.  The driver failed a roadside exam and was arrested for impaired operation of a conveyance and drive with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol.  The driver later provided two samples of his breath of more than twice the legal limit.  He has been charged and will appear in court at a later date.  He faces an automatic driver’s license suspension of 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Assault with a Weapon

On May 16th at 9:00 PM the Brockville Police Service responded to Garden Street between James St. and Pearl St. for reports of a 33-year-old male that had been stabbed.  The victim received several wounds to his hands and was transported to the Brockville General Hospital with non-life threatening wounds.  Two suspect reportedly had run into a residence on Garden Street.  Officers later cleared the residence with the use of the Emergency Response Team, but did not locate the suspects. 

There is no threat to the public.  The suspects and the victim are known to each other.  The assault was the result of an argument that escalated to a physical altercation.  The investigation is ongoing at this time.  Anyone with any information regarding this occurrence is asked to call the Brockville Police Service at 613-342-0127 ext. 0 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Mischief

A 33-year-old male was arrested for mischief after officers investigated a complaint of property damage to Wall Street resident.  The original complaint occurred on May 14th at 10:00 AM when the accused damaged the front door of the residence.  Officers received another complaint about the male on 15th at 8:00 AM.  The male had returned to the residence and was asleep on the front porch.  He was arrested for the offence of mischief and released from custody with a future court date.

Bike Patrol

May 14th – 16th the Brockville Police Service had an officers on bike patrol.  The officers were focused on patrolling the Brock Trail and downtown core.  This was in response to complaints that the service has had over noise, unruly behavior on the bike path and erratic driving.  Over the weekend they issued a total of 30 tickets and warnings,

–           2 Warnings issued for stop sign/ red light violations

–           2 Warnings issued for smoking in a public park

–           2 Warnings issued for Drive with hand held communication devices

–           1 ticket and 2 Warnings for failing to surrender documents

–           1 ticket for failing to display 2 plates

–           1 summons for drive with no insurance

–           1 summons for driving while under suspension

–           2 tickets and 4 warnings for failing to wear seatbelts

–           4 tickets and 2 warnings for muffler related offences

–           2 tickets for open liquor in a public place
