Breach of Probation

On August 22nd, Police on general patrol and stopped a male youth known to police.

The local 17 year old was on court conditions for outstanding charges of theft. One of the conditions was a curfew.

Two counts of breaching his undertaking were laid and the youth was released later the same day with a future court appearance.

Fraud

Elderly female resident victim of Fraud. Police following up.

Once again Police draw your attention to another type of phone scam. This one has been around for a while but still active.

Victim receives phone call from someone claiming to be a family member. They indicate they are in trouble or police custody somewhere and need money wired to them for bail. The request is usually made to access a western union location.

Further to media release from last week, police remind people once again to not get involved in any of these fraudulent scams.

If you have elderly relatives in your care or a local retirement home, speak to them about these scams. A lot of the times, these people are being made the targets.

Liquor Offence

On August 19th, Police responded to residence in south end of city to speak to a 46 year old male who spoke of wanting to harm himself.

The resident, who was intoxicated at the time, was brought to the station for his own protection. He was supplied help through one of our Community Partners and released unconditionally when sober.

Break and Enter

On August 19th, Police responded to a Break and Enter at Future Shop on Parkedale Ave.

The investigation is still taking place. No suspects at time of this release. No further information being released for now.

Breach of Probation

In the late afternoon of August 15th, Police responded to King St. W. and Chase St. in regards to two males drawing attention to themselves.

While dealing with the two males, investigation revealed they were both on conditions not to consume alcohol. Police noted both males to be under the influence of same.

Two local males, 38 and 20 years of age were charged with Breaching their Recognizance and Breaching Probation orders.

They were both remanded into custody through satellite court on Saturday morning and will appear August 18th for a bail hearing.

Drug Warrant

At 10:00 pm on August 15, Brockville Police executed a search warrant at a downtown address under the controlled drugs and substance act.

A 35 year old male and 28 year old female are facing charges of “possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.” They have been released from custody with a future court date.

Bail Violations

At 4:00 pm on August 15, Brockville Police arrested a 39 year old male and 21 year old male for failing to comply with their bail conditions. Both males have been remanded into custody for a bail hearing on Monday.

Break and Enter

Police are investigating a break and enter to the “Telus Mobility” store located at 2211 Parkedale Ave. sometime overnight from the 14th of August to the 15th.

Police are asking anyone that may have observed vehicles in the area of the Commerce Court complex in the early morning hours to contact the service.

Assault

At approximately 10:00 am on August 14th, Brockville Police responded to the Brockville General Hospital in regards to staff needing assistance.

A 47 year old male patient had assaulted two hospital staff members and afterwards barricaded himself in a room. Police took control of the male and he was secured by hospital staff.

The Ottawa area male will possibly face assault charges when discharged. Injuries to the staff were minor in nature.
