Domestic Dispute

On October 12th, Brockville Police responded to a south end residence in regards to a domestic dispute.
A local 46 year old male, intoxicated, was arrested to prevent a further breach of the peace.
He was released when sober unconditionally.

Impaired Driving

On October 12th, Brockville Police responded to a report of poor driving by another motorist.

The vehicle was stopped and the driver was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle. The 25 year old city resident was also charged with Failing to Provide a Breath Sample.
Incident to his arrest, the vehicle he was driving was searched. Police located a rifle and ammunition as a result. Further firearm related charges are pending. The subject was released later with a future court date.

OPERATION IMPACT

Over the holiday weekend, statistics were kept in regards to Operation Impact.

Brockville Police conducted RIDE programs on several occasions, stopping and speaking to about 750 drivers.

We recorded no serious traffic incidents in relation to any injuries or accidents.

Statistically:

6 charges for no insurance
28 speeding fines
31 charges for other various traffic charges

Disturbance

On October 16th, Brockville Police responded to a disturbance in front of the Georgian Dragon on King St. W.

Officers broke up the starting of a fight and found one of the male combatants to be on release conditions stemming from charges out of Toronto.

The 30 year old, Vancouver resident was charged with breaching his conditions by consuming alcohol.
He was released later with a future court date.

Domestic Dispute

On October 16th, Brockville Police responded to a domestic dispute in the center area of the city.

A 36 year old female from the Kingston area was arrested and charged with assault. She is alleged to have pushed her male counterpart down a flight of stairs. The male suffered no injuries as a result.
The accused was held for bail.

Appointment of Chief of Police

The Brockville Police Services Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Acting Chief of Police Scott Fraser, to Chief of Police. Chief Fraser has served as Acting Chief of Police since December 18, 2013.

Chief Fraser has 23 years of policing experience with both the Brockville Police Service, and the Vancouver Police in British Columbia. He has held a number of different positions in his career, all with increased responsibility and authority.

Fraud

On October 8th, Brockville Police took a complaint from a city resident in regards to a fraud.

The female victim met a man on an internet chat site for seniors. The unknown male began making requests for funds after explaining he had run into unfortunate circumstances.

In the end, the victim was out a substantial amount of money. These crimes are becoming all too frequent and are almost impossible to track down the responsible parties.

Police encourage people to not send money to anyone that you have never met. Family members should check on others to make sure no one around them is communicating with another person in this fashion.

Theft

On October 7th, Brockville Police responded to Walmart on Parkedale Ave. in regards to a theft complaint.

A 43 year old female and her 17 year old son were both charged with Theft Under $5000.00 Both accused parties are local residents.

Assault

On October 7th Brockville Police responded to south end apartment building in regards to an assault complaint.

A 51 year old male who resides in the building, assaulted two other residents. The victims, a 42 year old female and a 44 year old male, sustained minor injuries in the incident.

The accused was released with conditions and given a future court date.

Stolen Vehicle

Brockville Police are currently investigating the theft of a motor vehicle.

The 2004 green dodge van was stolen from the west end parking lot of the 1000 Islands Mall.

It was parked from 7:30 to 8:30 pm. on Tuesday, October 7th. The vehicle was locked and there were no keys left in it.
