August 11 – 12, 2021 News Release

Impaired

August 11, 2021 at approximately 5:30 PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Laurier Boulevard.  Officers located and stopped a black Saturn on Laurier Blvd. at Peden Blvd.  The 39-year-old female driver failed a roadside screening device.  She was arrested for driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in her system and transported to the station for a breath test performed by a qualified technician.  She provided samples of her breath that were more than double the legal limit.  She was charged with drive with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol and impaired operation of a conveyance.  She will appear in court at a date in the future.

 

 

August 9 – 11, 2021 News Release

Trespass

August 9, 2021 at 12:12 PM, officers were called to the train station on Perth Street for a male that had removed from an inbound train for not having a ticket.  After the male was removed he attempted to buy a ticket, but while doing so he threatened staff at the station.  The 66-year-old male was arrested by officers for uttering a threat. He was not charged and later released unconditionally.

 

Warrants/assault police

August 10, 2021 at 9:46 AM, members of the Brockville Police Service responded to a domestic dispute at an apartment on Cartier Court.  The dispute did not lead to any charges, but the 26-year-old female involved had a warrant for her arrest for failing to attend court.  She attempted to run from officers, but was apprehended after a short foot chase. The accused was brought to the station and held in custody for a bail hearing.  During her time in the cells, she spat on two officers.  She now is facing additional charges of assaulting police.

 

Stabbing

August 10, 2021 at 9:31 PM, ambulance services contacted the Brockville Police Service requesting assistance with a 45-year-old male that had been stabbed in the abdomen.  The male was located on King Street West by both paramedics and police.  He was transported to Kingston General Hospital for his serious, but not life threatening injuries. The incident had taken place approximately an hour earlier outside of a residence on Millwood Avenue.  The investigation is continuing at this time.  This is an isolated incident between persons known to each other.

August 6 – 9, 2021 News Release

Warrants

August 6, 2021 at 9:04 PM, an officer on routine patrol conducted a vehicle stop on Jefferson Drive for the offence of failing to stop for an amber light.  The 32-year-old driver was subject of an arrest warrant from Kingston, Ontario.  His driver’s license was also under suspension at the time of the stop.  He was charged by our service for driving under suspension and failing to stop for an amber light.  He was then turned over to Kingston Police.

 

Weapons

August 6, 2021 at 10:12 PM, the Brockville Police Service were contacted by paramedic services indicating that they required police immediately at a Laurier Boulevard apartment complex parking lot.   That a male was injured by what they believed to be a firearm.  Officers discovered three separate scenes that had to be secured and witnesses that had to be interviewed.  The investigation revealed that the 38-year-old male’s injury was self-inflicted.  The investigation is ongoing and there is not a threat to public safety. 

 

Domestic

August 7, 2021 at 11:59 PM, officers were called to the Walmart parking lot on Parkedale Avenue for a domestic dispute.  A 30-year-old female was arrested for assault on her male partner.  The two had an argument that escalated to a physical assault.  The accused reportedly choked, scratched and bit the victim while they were driving.  The victim pulled in to the Walmart lot and contacted police.  In the parking lot, the accused got out of the vehicle, climbed on top.  The victim remained inside locking the doors.  She was arrested and charged with assault and failing to comply with a probation order.  She will appear in court at a date in the future.

 

August 5 – 6, 2021 News Release

Drugs

August 5, 2021 at 3:40 PM, officers were dispatched George Street for reports of a male using intravenous drugs in a community park.  A 54-year-old male was located in the park and arrested for being in possession of a controlled substance.  The male was in possession of methamphetamine.  He was charged and released with a court date in the future.

 

Robbery

August 5, 2021 at 4:00 PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a robbery on King Street East.  A 43-year-old female was arrested, charged and held in custody for the offence of robbery.  The 77-year-old victim was exiting her son’s vehicle when she was attacked by the accused.  The accused tried to grab her purse and a struggled ensued.  The victim’s son and an off-duty OPP officer stopped the accused and contacted police.  The victim was not injured in the incident.

 

Motor vehicle collision

August 6, 2021 just before noon, a 911 call was received about an elderly female being struck by a motor vehicle at a retirement residence on Stewart Boulevard.  The 77-year-old female had parked her vehicle, but the transmission was in neutral. As she exited the vehicle, it rolled, trapping her under the front tire.  A resident from the home heard the screams of the victim and managed to push the vehicle freeing her.  She was transported to Kingston General Hospital for her serious, but not life threatening injuries. 

 

 

August 4, 2021 News Release

Update on Fire Investigation

On the 14th of May, 2021 at 0226hrs Brockville Fire Department notified the Brockville Police Service of an active structure fire at 12 Centennial Road in the City of Brockville.  A criminal investigation was conducted as the fire was determined to be suspicious.  It was determined that the residence was abandoned, but a squatter had been residing at the dwelling.  It was undetermined at the time of the fire if that person was inside.  It was not until later that evening that the squatter was located a distance away from the fire. 

Investigation that a 46-year-old Cardinal resident was arrested on July 29, 2021 at the Brockville Police Service.  He has been charged with mischief endangering life and will appear in court at a date in the future.

Possession of Stolen Property

July 6, 2021 at 10:30 PM, officers received information about two stolen personal watercraft at an address on Abbott Street.  Officers attended the residence and located to the two watercraft and confirmed they had been reported stolen out of the Pembroke area.  They were recovered at the time and a 35-year-old male suspect was identified in the case. 

On July 30, 2021 at 6:17 PM, officers conducted a traffic stop on that male.  He was arrested and charged with being in possession of stolen property.  At the time of his arrest, officers located 3 stolen license plates in his vehicle.  He will appear in court at a date in the future.

 

Break and enter

July 31, 2021 shortly after 5:00 AM, members of the Brockville Police Service responded to an alarm call at the Hydro One lot on Central Avenue.  Officers located a 53-year-old male attempting to hide in the bushes with his stolen items.  He was arrested and charged with breaking and entering to commit theft.

 

Suspicious Person

July 31, 2021 at 10:30 AM, officers were called to George Street for reports of a suspicious male lying in the grass.  A 37-year-old male was located in the area.  He happened to be in possession of an edged weapon contrary to his probation condition.  He was charged at the scene and will appear in court at a date in the future.

 

Impaired

July 31, 2021 just before 6:00 PM, officers responded to a motor vehicle collision on George Street.  A gray Ford Mustang had crashed into a hydro pole causing a power outage in the area.  The 30-year-old driver was transported to the Brockville General Hospital for minor injuries.  The driver was given a roadside breath test that he registered a fail and subsequently failed further breath tests that were conducted by a breath technician.  He was charged with impaired operation of a conveyance, drive with more than 80 milligrams and dangerous driving.  He will appear in court at a future date.

 

Theft

August 1, 2021 at 9:00 AM, a family visiting Brockville had stayed at a local hotel in the city’s north end.  When they checked their vehicle in the morning, they discovered that the vehicle had been entered and their son’s wallet was missing.  The complainant checked the area with his son.  They spotted a 22-year-old male wearing the complainant’s sweater.  They immediately confronted the male which led to a physical confrontation.  Officers attended and arrested the accused for theft.  The complainant was satisfied that the property was recovered and elected not to have the accused charged.

July 29 – 30, 2021 News Release

Warrants

July 29, 2021 at 11:00 AM, a 39-year-old female surrendered to police, as she was wanted for a bail violation.  Officers had reasonable grounds to charge the accused after they received information that she had been at a downtown residence contrary to her release conditions on the 28th.  She was held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

Cause Disturbance

On July 29, 2021 just before 8:00 PM, officers were called to a disturbance on Perth Street.  The complainant indicated that three teen males had crossed in front of him without the right of way.  When confronted by the complainant he was threatened by the three youths.  Officers arrived on scene and arrested two 16-year-old males for threats and causing a disturbance. The behaviour of the boys continued with one threatening harm to the responding officer.   The third male fled the scene on the officer’s arrival.  The two males were charged and released to their caregivers.  The third unknown male was not located.

 

 

 

July 28 – 29, 2021 News Release

Warrants

July 28, 2021 a 45-year-old male turned himself in to police for his outstanding warrant.  The accused had been arrested and charged for impaired operation on July 12, but failed to attend court as required.  He was released on his own recognizance with a future court date.

 

Assault

July 28, 2021 at 9:33 AM, a 42-year-old male surrendered to police as he was wanted for an assault that occurred on the July 23rd.  The accused had assaulted another male after a dispute over the ownership of a bicycle.  The victim had returned to his north end residence where he was confronted by accused and struck several times in the face.  He was released with a future court date.

 

Warrants

July 28, 2021 at 11:33 AM, a 26-year-old female was located on John Street and arrested for an outstanding bench warrant. The accused was previously charged in a domestic investigation and was scheduled to appear in court on the 23rd of July.  When she failed to attend, a warrant was issued for her arrest.  She was released from custody with a new court date.

 

July 27 – 28, 2021 News Release

Warrants

July 27, 2021 at 4:00 PM, officers on Parkedale Avenue observed a 32-year-old female that they have dealt with several times.  They were aware that Cobourg Police Service had several warrants for her arrest.  Officers arrested the female and she was returned to Cobourg for a bail hearing.

 

Indecent Act

July 27, 2021 shortly after 6:30 PM, officers were called to the Brockville General Hospital for a 32-year-old male causing problems in the waiting area.  The male had dropped his pants exposing his genitals to staff and other patients.  Security attempted to intervene, but the male lunged at them.  He was arrested by officers and charged with indecent acts.  He has been held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

July 24 – 26, 2021 News Release

Warrants

  1. July 24, 2021 at 9:46 AM, officers arrested a male for an outstanding warrant for failing to attend for fingerprints. The 22-year-old male had failed to attend for prints on July 20 for a charge of breaching a probation order.  He was released from custody with a court date in the future.
  2. July 23, 2021 at 11:42 AM, officers arrested a 35-year-old male after a vehicle was stopped on Eleanor Street. The vehicle had initially failed to stop for officers, but was located on Eleanor Street.  The accused, who was a passenger, was located in the area and arrested on his outstanding warrant for breach of probation.  He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

Threats

A 60-year-old male was arrested and charged for threatening a neighbour at a residence on Hastings Drive.  The accused was arrested on July 24 shortly after 6:00 PM.  The threats arose after some sort of dispute between neighbours.  He will appear in court at a date in the future. 

 

Possession of Stolen Property

July 23, 2021 at 7:46 AM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a person removing lumber from Harold’s Demolition.  Officers arrested the 53-year-old male was for possession of stolen property and possession of break-in tools.  He will appear in court at a in the future.

 

Possession of Stolen Property

July 23, 2021 at 5:44 PM, a 51-year-old male was arrested for theft of a bicycle.  The 16-year-old complainant observed the accused take his bike and ride away.  The complainant followed him and called 911.  He was arrested without incident and charged with theft and failing to comply with his probation order.  He will appear in court in the future.
