The Brockville Police Service participates in the “Chief” For A Day fundraiser for local organizations. Annually, these organizations auction off an opportunity for a youth (ages 10-16) to become Police Chief for a day.
The Police Chief for a Day has the opportunity to tour the police facility and go out on patrol in a marked police vehicle. They are able to interact with community members and police officers and observe what their Brockville Police Service is all about.
Community policing involves interacting with all members of the community, talking with them and more importantly, listening to them and responding to questions. The “Police Chief For a Day” program is an important component of our community policing strategy and builds bridges between youth and police.
