October 28 – 29, 2016 Incidents

Grocery Thief

A lone male attempted to steal approximately $350 worth of groceries from the Metro located on King Street in Brockville on the 28th of October.  Once the suspect was confronted by staff he abandoned his cart loaded with his ill gotten gains and fled. Described as being in his late 40’s wearing a yellow ball hat, blue coat and blonde hair.

Impaired Driver

A 29 year old local man was stopped operating a motor vehicle after police received a complaint that the driver was possibly impaired. Once stopped there was an odour of alcohol coming from the male. A demand for a sample of breath was made by officers into an approved screening device. However, the driver declined to provide a suitable sample. He was arrested for refusing to provide a breath sample as demanded and released with a future court date. The penalty for refusing a breath sample carries the same penalty as an impaired driving conviction. The drivers vehicle was also impounded in accordance with provincial regulations. The vehicle was not his own.
