Impaired Driver
A 29 year old local man was stopped operating a motor vehicle after police received a complaint that the driver was possibly impaired. Once stopped there was an odour of alcohol coming from the male. A demand for a sample of breath was made by officers into an approved screening device. However, the driver declined to provide a suitable sample. He was arrested for refusing to provide a breath sample as demanded and released with a future court date. The penalty for refusing a breath sample carries the same penalty as an impaired driving conviction. The drivers vehicle was also impounded in accordance with provincial regulations. The vehicle was not his own.
