April 22 – 25, 2022 News Release

Theft:

On April 22, 2022 at about 11:00AM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a shoplifter at the SuperStore on Parkedale Ave. The suspect was identified to be a 40-year-old female. She was arrested as she made no attempt to purchase the concealed merchandise. The total value was approximately $20.00. She was charged with theft under $5,000.00 and release with a future court date.

 

Theft:

On April 22, 2022 at about 12:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a shoplifter at the Canadian Tire on Parkedale Ave. The suspect was identified to be a 42-year-old female. She left the store making no attempt to pay for the merchandise. The total value of the theft was under $50.00. The property was recovered and she was charged with theft under $5,000.00 and released with a future court date.

 

Bail Violation:

On April 22, 2022 at about 3:30PM, the Brockville Police Service learned of an incident where a 24-year-old female, had breached the conditions of her release order. An investigation was taking place with Family and Children Services at a residence on Church St. It was found that the 24-year-old female had a condition on her release order to abstain communication with a particular male. They were both found at the residence. Due to this, the female was co-operative and surrendered herself for arrest. She was held in custody for a bail hearing for the offence of fail to comply with release order.

 

Fraud:

On April 22, 2022 at about 7:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint about a fraud that had taken place at Money Mart on Parkedale Ave. Investigation revealed that a 29-year-old female, had attended to the store and attempted to cash a fraudulent cheque in the amount of $3,250.00. It was also discovered that she had attempted to cash a fraudulent cheque the previous week, in the amount of $2,850.00. She was arrested and charged with two counts of fraud under $5,000.00 and released with a future court date.

 

Drug Offences and Weapons:

On April 23, 2022 at about 4:00PM, officers from the Brockville Police Service initiated a traffic stop in the area of Parkedale Ave and California Ave. The driver of the vehicle was the owner and it was found that his driver’s licence was suspended. Further investigation revealed that he was in possession of cannabis, which was not properly stored. Additionally discovered in the vehicle was a quantity of cocaine, approximately $9,000.00 in cash, scales and a baton style taser also known as a conducted energy weapon. These items were all seized and the male was placed under arrest and held in custody for a bail hearing. He was charged with possession of cocaine for the purposes of trafficking, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, possession of a prohibited device and having care or control of a motor vehicle with cannabis readily available.

 

Impaired Driving: 

On April 24, 2022 at about 5:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received information of a male leaving a licenced establishment from the downtown area of Brockville. It was reported that the male driver was possibly impaired. The vehicle was located by police in the area of Stewart Blvd. and Jefferson Dr. The driver was identified to be a 40-year-old male, who had been consuming alcohol. A roadside screening device was administered and the breath sample registered a fail. He was placed under arrest for driving over 80mg of alcohol and taken to the Brockville Police Service for further testing. After additional testing, it was discovered that he was operating the vehicle while over two times the legal limit. He was charged with impaired driving and impaired driving blood alcohol concentration over 80mg. His licence was suspended for 90 days, the vehicle was impounded and later released with a future court date.
