August 13 – 14, 2015 Incidents

Mischief

On August 13th at approximately 7:15 am, Brockville Police attended the Days Inn on Stewart Blvd. to assist the Ontario Provincial Police.

Police had attended that location to notify someone of the death of the individual in the Highway #2 incident the evening prior. When attempting to speak to a male in one of the rooms, he jumped through a second storey window. He was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Police believe drugs and alcohol played a role in his behaviour.

The 21 year old, from the St. Catherines area, was charged with mischief for breaking the hotel window and breach of his probation order.

He was issued paperwork for a future court appearance.

 

Theft

On August 13th at approximately 5:30 pm, Brockville Police attended the VIA station on Perth Street for a theft complaint.

While the VIA employee was out on the platform, an unknown male attended the till area and removed a quantity of cash.

Police have recovered some evidence from the scene and the investigation is on-going.

 

Arson

August 14th at approximately 5:30 am, Brockville Police attended to Hardy Park in regards to arson involving the play structure.

A witness reported seeing a group of younger people exiting the park about a half hour prior to Police arrival.

Damage is estimated in the ten to fifteen thousand dollar range. The structure is unsafe and cannot be used at this time.
