News Release – December 19th, 2025

Subject Arrested for Personating a Police Officer

On December 17, 2025, at approximately 3:30pm, Brockville Police received a report from a man who stated he had been stopped on John Street by an individual claiming to be an undercover officer with the Brockville Police Service. Investigation revealed that the suspect conducted a pat‑down search and questioned the complainant about drugs and outstanding warrants.

A short time later, officers arrested the male subject, identified as a 42-year-old, male. He was arrested for the offences of personating a peace officer and assault. The subject later provided a statement with differences in the events but confirmed there was a meeting between the two where a pat-down search took place.

The subject was released with conditions and a future court date after being charged with personating a peace officer and assault.

Arrest Made in Relation to Stolen Vehicles

On December 10, 2025, at approximately 6:00pm, Brockville Police received information regarding two stolen vehicles from the Home Depot store on Parkedale Avenue. Information was that a male suspect rented two delivery style vans from Home Depot on November 30, 2025. They were rented for a short period and were supposed to be returned later that same day; however, by December 10th, they had not been returned and the subject was not responding. Due to these circumstances, and arrest warrant was sought for the 55-year-old, male subject responsible for the rentals.

On December 18, 2025, at approximately 12:00pm, the Brockville Police Service received information from the OPP, that they had located the wanted subject at the Mallorytown, 401 Service Centre. The subject was arrested and transported to the Brockville Police Service where he was charged with two counts of theft of motor vehicle and held for a bail hearing.   

News Release – December 16th, 2025

Male Arrested in High Risk Incident Involving Threats and Weapon Possession

On December 13, 2025, at approximately 2:00pm, police received a 911 call regarding a dispute between a mother and her 32‑year‑old, son at a residence on Perth Street. Information provided indicated that an argument between the two had escalated, resulting in the son taking possession of a kitchen knife and threatening his mother.

Officers responded promptly and located the mother and keeping her safe inside the residence. It was determined that the subject had moved to the upper level of the home, where he barricaded himself in a bedroom and made statements indicating self‑harm while still in possession of the knife. Officers contained the scene to mitigate risk for everyone while the Brockville Police Service Emergency Response Team (ERT) was deployed.

ERT officers attended and assessed the situation while negotiations were initiated with the individual. These efforts resulted in him surrendering the knife, along with a quantity of methamphetamine. This calculated response led to the safe arrest of the subject without any injuries.

The individual was held in custody for a bail hearing after being charged with the offences of uttering threats and possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose.

News Release – December 9th, 2025

Arrest Made After Disturbance Between a Couple

On December 6, 2025, at approximately 9:30 am, police responded to a call regarding a physical altercation between a couple at a residence on King Street East.

Upon arrival, officers heard a disturbance inside the home involving a 38-year-old male and a female. Evidence at the scene indicated a physical altercation had occurred, and visible injuries were observed on the female. The male was arrested as he attempted to leave the residence. He initially resisted arrest, but officers quickly gained control.

The investigation revealed that the couple had been arguing intermittently for approximately two days prior to the incident. During this time, the male attempted to ignite a blanket the female was using, causing a superficial burn injury. On the day of the call, the female was strangled by the male. When the male believed police were on route to the scene, he smashed a mirror and attempted to barricade the door; however, officers found the door ajar upon arrival.

The male was found to be on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. The female sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing and has been charged with the following offences:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Assault causing bodily harm – strangling
  • Obstruct peace officer
  • Mischief under $5,000.00
  • Fail to comply with probation

Arrest Made in Drug Impaired Driving Incident

On December 6, 2025, at approximately 4:30 pm, police responded to a report of a female who appeared unconscious and partially hanging out of the driver’s window of a vehicle parked in a lot near Parkedale Avenue and Stewart Boulevard.

Officers located the vehicle and the female in question. She initially provided a false name; however, officers recognized her as a 24-year-old female who was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to comply with probation conditions.

The female was arrested on the warrant and further investigated for impaired driving. During a search, officers located a quantity of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia. She was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert, and testing determined she was impaired by drugs.

As a result, the vehicle was impounded, driver’s licence was suspended and she was released with a future court date. Her charges include the following:

  • Operation while impaired by drugs
  • Possession of a substance – fentanyl
  • Obstruct peace officer

News Release – December 5th, 2025

Multiple Disturbances Lead to Arrest

On December 4, 2025, the Brockville Police Service responded to a series of alarming incidents involving a male subject who threatened and assaulted staff members at two local businesses.

Investigation revealed that a 44-year-old, male entered Staples on Parkedale Avenue at about 12:00pm, where he stole a space heater and threatened to kill a staff member. Police were contacted immediately. A short time after, the subject attended a second location at Lanark Leeds Grenville Mental Health and Addictions on Front Avenue, where the situation escalated dramatically.

It was discovered that the subject assaulted a staff member by grabbing them and shoving them twice, threw an energy drink at their head, and made additional death threats to kill multiple staff members in the area. The subject then threw a boot at another staff member, striking them in the upper back. While employees sought safety, the subject caused significant property damage by smashing a computer monitor and destroying a table.

Brockville Police located the subject nearby, placed him under arrest, and held him in custody for a bail hearing. It was learned that he was also on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. He was charged with the following offences:

  • Assault
  • Assault with a weapon x 2
  • Uttering threats x 2
  • Mischief under $5,000.00
  • Theft under $5,000.00
  • Fail to comply with probation x 2

Driver Determined to be Impaired by Drugs

On December 5, 2025, at about 1:30am, a 32-year-old male attended the Brockville Police Service reporting that he was being followed and harassed. The subject stated he had traveled from Kawartha Lakes to Cornwall and expressed concerns about ongoing harassment.

Investigation revealed the same individual had visited another police service previously with similar complaints. During the interaction in Brockville, officers observed signs of impairment and grounds were formed to arrest the subject for impaired operation by drug.

The driver was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) and performed poorly on the assessment. As a result, the subject has been charged with Impaired Operation by Drug. Their driver’s licence was suspended, vehicle impounded, and released with conditions, including a future court date.

The Brockville Police Service reminds the public that impaired driving—whether by alcohol or drugs—poses a serious risk to everyone on our roads. We encourage everyone to contact police if you suspect a driver is impaired, and help us reduce the risk for everyone in our community.

Theft Suspect Identified and Arrested

On November 28, 2025, police received information of a theft that had taken place at the Home Hardware store, on Stewart Boulevard. This took place on a previous date of November 26, 2025. Information was that a male subject attended the store and stole a Milwaukee cordless impact tool, valued at approximately $500.00.

On December 3, 2025, with the assistance of the Smiths Falls Police Service, the suspect responsible for this theft was identified and arrested. The suspect was identified as a 33-year-old, male who was involved in a separate investigation in Smiths Falls. Through that investigation and information sharing, it was determined that the subject was responsible for the theft of the merchandise. The subject was released with conditions and a future court date after being charged with theft under $5,000.00.

News Release – December 3rd, 2025

Two Suspects Were Arrested Resulting from a Stolen Vehicle Investigation

On December 1st 2025, approximately 9:10 pm, Brockville Police received a call from a concerned motorist who was nearly struck by a 2026 GMC Sierra pickup truck as it was driven out of the parking lot of the Riverside GM dealership on Stewart Blvd.

The truck had been stolen from the dealership and fled at a high rate of speed, cutting off other motorists and traveling at a high rate of speed before leaving Brockville East along the 401 highway.

Within minutes, staff at Riverside were able to provide police with excellent footage that showed the truck thief was driven to the scene by a 2022 White Ford F-150 with distinctive a contractor’s cap on the back. Using the civilian witnesses detailed information, the video surveillance from the dealership and with the assistance of Dealership provided GPS information, police were able to recover the stolen vehicle parked at a local grocery store in Prescott.

Moreover, with the assistance of the Grenville County OPP, the individuals responsible for the theft of the truck were located and arrested at the Ultramar gas bar in Prescott. Benjamin BELAND (44) , from Quebec, now faces charges including Theft of Motor Vehicle contrary to section 333.1 (1) of the Criminal Code, Dangerous Operation contrary to section 320.13(1) of the Criminal Code, Mischief under $5000 contrary to section 430(1) of the Criminal Code, Possession of Break-in Instrument contrary to section 351(1) of the Criminal Code, Possession of device for the purpose of committing theft contrary to section 333.2(1) of the Criminal Code and Breach of Probation contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code.

Eric Quintin (45), from Quebec, faces charges including Theft or Motor Vehicle contrary to section 333.1(1) of the Criminal Code, Mischief under $5000 contrary to section 4301(1) of the Criminal Code, Possession of Break-in Instrument contrary to section 351(1) of the Criminal Code, Possession of device for the purpose of committing theft contrary to section 333.2(1) of the Criminal Code and Fail to Comply with Undertaking contrary to section 145(4)(a) of the Criminal Code.

Both men have a significant criminal history which includes theft and property crimes. They were both held for bail and remanded to later dates in December.

The Brockville Police Service wishes to commend the civilians who immediately contacted police when they observed what they believed to be a stolen vehicle driving dangerously. Further, the quick response and assistance of staff at Riverside GM and the Grenville County OPP resulted in the arrest of the two accused persons within 1 hour of the reported theft. The result of this cooperation was the recovery of a high value vehicle, the arrest of two responsible persons and the seizure of one of the accused vehicles as offence related property.

This occurrence serves as a stand out example of the great work that can be accomplished when members of the Brockville community work together to prevent and solve crime.

News Release – December 1st, 2025

Theft From LCBO

Thefts of products from the LCBO continue at a high rate of frequency. On November 26, 2025 at about 10:30am, police received a call regarding another theft from the LCBO on Parkedale Avenue. Information was that four bottles of merchandise were taken from the store, while the male suspect made no attempt to pay. It was also determined that there was another male involved, as the suspects left the scene together in a vehicle.

Later that day at about 4:00pm, officers observed the suspect vehicle. The suspects of the theft were placed under arrest for the theft. They were identified as a 26-year-old, and 30-year-old, local males. They were each charged and released on conditions with future court dates for the offence of theft under $5,000.00.

Person Arrested After Causing a Disturbance on a Via Rail Passenger Train

On November 25, 2025, at about 10:45pm, police received a call regarding a passenger on a Via Rail train coming through Brockville. The passenger was found to have been previously trespassed from Via Rail property for causing problems on the train. The subject was also consuming their own alcohol and was intoxicated. For the safety and concern of the other passengers, the train stopped in Brockville and police were contacted.

Officers arrived and investigation revealed that the subject causing the issues was a 30-year-old, male from Ottawa. The subject was uncooperative with staff and police. As a result, they were removed from the train for trespassing and arrested due to their intoxication. As the investigation continued, Via Rail police also had evidence that the subject uttered threats to staff previously; this being part of the reason for their trespass. Once sober, the subject was released on conditions with a future court date for uttering threats, and issued fines for trespassing and being intoxicated in a public place.

Subject Arrested for Passing Counterfeit Money

On November 21, 2025, police received a call in relation to counterfeit cash being used to pay for items in a private sale.

Investigation revealed that a 46-year-old, male, paid for items that were sold on Facebook Marketplace with a counterfeit $50.00 bill. The male was also found to be on bail with various conditions.

On November 24, 2025, at about 8:30pm, police located the subject in the area of King Street West and Victoria Avenue. The subject was arrested for the counterfeit currency offence. After the arrest it was discovered that the subject was not abiding by the bail condition; to reside at a specific address with their surety. The subject was held for a bail hearing after being charged with utter counterfeit currency and failing to comply with release order.

Impaired Driving Incidents

Recently, the Brockville Police Service has laid charges in multiple impaired driving incidents.

On November 23, 2025, at about 1:30am, police observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Stewart Boulevard. The vehicle was observed for a short period, and it was noticed that the vehicle was swerving and crossing the painted center lines.

The vehicle was followed and stopped. It was determined that the 48-year-old, male driver had been consuming alcohol. A breath sample was taken at the roadside by an approved screening device, which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and when searched, a quantity of cocaine was located and seized. He was taken to the Brockville Police Service for additional breath testing. As a result, it was determined that the driver was impaired and operating while over the legal limit. The vehicle was impounded, driver’s licence suspended and the driver was released with a future court date after being charged with the following:

  • Operation while impaired by alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg
  • Possession of cocaine

Further; on November 23, 2025, at about 9:15pm, police received a 911 call regarding a single vehicle collision in the area of Kensington Parkway and Centennial Road. Information was that a vehicle had failed to stop for the northbound stop sign on Kensington Parkway. The vehicle failed to stop, crossed Centennial Road and came to a stop in the ditch. A female was observed staggering around in the roadway shortly after.

Officers arrived and located the vehicle and female described. Investigation revealed that the 30-year-old, female was in fact the driver of the vehicle.  It was determined that she had been consuming alcohol and failed a roadside breath screening. She was arrested and taken to the Brockville Police Service for additional testing. This testing confirmed that she was driving while impaired.

As a result, the vehicle was impounded, driver’s licence was suspended and the driver was charged with operation while impaired by alcohol and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg. She was released with conditions and a future court date.

 

News Release – November 14th, 2025

Impaired Driving

On November 9, 2025, at about 3:50pm, police received a call of a male driver slumped over the wheel of car in the area of 60 William Street. Officers located the vehicle and identified the driver as a 32-year-old, male.

After speaking with the driver, it was decided to demand the breath sample for alcohol screening. The driver was not cooperative with police originally, but after he was arrested and taken to the police station, he provided samples confirming he was over the legal limit. As a result, his vehicle was impounded, licence suspended and charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg.

Intimate Partner Violence

On November 12, 2025, at about 4:00am, police received a 911 call where a female was disclosing that she was being assaulted, just prior to the call disconnecting. It was learned that the call was coming from a residence on Kyle Court.

Officers attended and while on route, police received a second call with similar information. Investigation revealed that the couple involved were a 56-year-old, male; and a 54-year-old, female. The couple were involved in a dispute that escalated to the point that both became physical. Throughout the dispute, both had taken the opportunity to assault and threaten one another. In addition to the altercation, the male subject prevented the female from leaving the scene.

As a result, both were released on conditions with a future court date, after being charged with the following:

  • 56-year-old, male
    • Assault
    • Utter threats
    • Forcible confinement
  • 54-year-old, female
    • Assault
    • Utter threats

Break and Enter

On November 12, 2025, at about 9:00am, police received a call in relation to a break and enter into a building at 47 Broad Street. Information was that the door to the building appeared to have been broken open.

Officers arrived and confirmed the reported information. When officers entered the building, they located two subjects inside. They were identified as 55 and 56-year-old, local males. The 56-year-old, male was found to be on two separate probation orders with conditions to keep the peace and be of good bahaviour.

Both were arrested and charged with break and enter. The subject on probation was additionally charged with two counts of failing to comply with probation. They were released on conditions with a future court date.

Brockville Police Service Enhances Public Safety with New Bail Compliance Dashboard

The Brockville Police Service is proud to announce the implementation of the Provincial Bail Compliance Dashboard. This is a newly developed tool designed to strengthen bail enforcement and enhance both officer and community safety.

Developed in collaboration with provincial partners and the OPP, the dashboard provides real-time data and analytics to support officers in monitoring individuals released on bail. This proactive approach allows for more efficient resource deployment and improved tracking of high-risk offenders.

The adoption of this tool reflects Brockville Police Service’s ongoing commitment to innovation and public safety.

 Arrests Made for Theft After Foot Pursuit

On November 4, 2025, at about 6:45pm, police received a call from the Superstore regarding a theft in progress. It was described that two females were selecting and concealing various items in their purses and bags. They exited the store making no attempt to pay for the merchandise.

Officers responded quickly and located the two female suspects off the West side of the Superstore property, near Crocker Crescent. The suspects were later identified to be 37-year-old, female from Belleville, ON and 39-year-old, female from Brighton, ON. When officers located them, the 37-year-old, subject fled on foot; however, was arrested a short distance later. The 39-year-old, female was found to be on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be of good bahaviour. Investigation revealed that the females had stolen approximately $463.00 worth of merchandise. The merchandise was recovered and returned.

Both females were held for a bail hearing as a result of the following charges being issued:

37-year-old

  • Theft under $5,000.00
  • Resist arrest by peace officer

39-year-old

  • Theft under $5,000.00
  • Fail to comply with probation

Traffic Stop Results in Drug Seizure

On November 4, 2025, at about 11:00pm, police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of King Street East and Bennett Street. The officer recognized the driver of the vehicle to be a 58-year-old, male, who he knew to have a suspended driver’s licence.

Upon stopping the vehicle, the officer observed open alcohol and cannabis inside. Due to all these circumstances, the driver was arrested. Upon an additional search he was found to also be in possession of a small quantity of crack cocaine.

As a result, the vehicle was towed for a seven-day impoundment, and he was charged with various Provincial Offences including:

  • Driving a vehicle while under suspension
  • Driving a vehicle with open container of liquor
  • Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
  • Possession of unmarked cigarettes

 

News Release – November 4th, 2025

Impaired Charges Laid as a Result of Collision

On October 31, 2025, at about 8:30pm, police received a report of a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Parkedale Avenue and Ormond Street. Information was that there were three vehicles involved in the collision.

Investigation revealed that a 24-year-old, female was driving her vehicle and approaching the intersection where traffic was stopped. The described driver did not stop in time and struck the rear of the vehicle ahead, forcing it forward into the rear of a third, involved vehicle. No one was injured in the collision.

While officers were speaking with all involved individuals, the 24-year-old, female who was the cause of the collision was noticed to be under the influence of alcohol. After speaking with the driver further, it was determined that she was impaired and placed under arrest. She was taken to the Brockville Police Service for testing, which confirmed that she was impaired.

The female’s driver’s licence was suspended, vehicle impounded and she was released with a future court date for the offences of operation while impaired and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg.

Charges Laid Regarding Drug Impaired Driving Incident

 On November 2, 2025, at about 1:00am, police received a call regarding a vehicle that is parked at the intersection of King Street West and Perth Street, with the hood up. It was also described that there was a male walking around the vehicle who was described as appearing intoxicated.

Investigation revealed that there was a 36-year-old, male walking around the vehicle. This subject was identified to be the driver of the vehicle. Upon conversation officers believed the subject to be intoxicated by drugs. A Standard Field Sobriety Test was administered, which resulted in the subject performing poorly. They were arrested and taken for additional testing by a Drug Recognition Expert. While the Drug Recognition Expert made some determinations, during the testing the subject became uncooperative and would not complete the testing. This resulted in the subject being charged with following:

  • Operation while impaired by drugs
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Obstruct peace officer
  • Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available

They were released on conditions with a future court date. 

Intimate Partner Violence

On November 2, 2025, at about 8:30pm, police received a complaint about a dispute between a couple over a family issue at a residence on Crawford Street.

Investigation revealed that the couple were in a dispute surrounding a matter with a child. The 44-year-old, male was upset over actions surrounding his girlfriend’s young daughter. This turned into an argument that escalated to the point that the male shoved the female, prompting police to be notified.

As a result of the investigation, the 44-year-old, male was charged with assault. He was released on conditions with a future court date. The victim suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries.
