As the result of a complaint Brockville police attended a disturbance on January 29, 2014 at 6:05 pm. It turns out that two Central Avenue neighbours were having a dispute which was resolved quickly. During the investigation it was revealed that one of the subjects had a warrant for his arrest with the Smiths Falls Police. Members of that service attended Brockville to deal with 23 year old Brockville man.

Motor Vehicle Collisions

Brockville Police investigated ten motor vehicle collisions on January 29, 2014. The bad weather may have been a factor in the unusually high number of accidents. There were no serious injuries

Canadian Police Focus on Young Women Coerced Into Sex Trade

Last week, police services across Canada participated in a two-day blitz focusing on the growing concern that young women are being forced to participate in the sex trade.

Operation Northern Spotlight involved 26 police services on January 22 and 23, 2014 and was centered around hotels and motels on major thoroughfares in over 30 cities and towns across the country. Over 330 young women, some as young as 15 years of age, were interviewed. Police found some were being forced to perform sexual acts, multiple times a day, for paying male customers.

Brockville Police responded to a disturbance at 8:39 am on January 27, 2014. Upon police arrival they discovered that the Perth Street home had been trashed by a female occupant. She was arrested by police and escorted to the Brockville Police headquarters. The 47 year old Brockville woman was later released and charged with mischief under $5000.00


Brockville Police are investigating several incidents of houses being egged over the past weekend. On January 24, 2014 a Bartholomew Street resident was awaked by a loud smashing noise. Upon checking her residence she found the front door glass had been shattered by an egg. Police were notified. A neighbour did see 4 youths leaving the area towards King Street East. At about the same time a Karolina Street house was also hit by eggs, this time there was no damage or witnesses. The next night about 10:00 pm a Salisbury Avenue home was egged, again with no damage.

Motor Vehicle Collision

On January 23, 2014 at 9:30 am the Brockville Police K9 vehicle was southbound on Perth Street at Havelock Street. At the same time another vehicle was eastbound on Havelock Street, failed to stop at the stop sign and collided with the passenger side of the K9 vehicle. There was extensive damage to both vehicles requiring them to be towed. Two officers and the male driver of the other vehicle sustained non- life threatening injuries. Police dog, Chase is fine. A 37 year old Brockville man has been charged with a stop sign offence.

Hit & Run Motor Vehicle Accident

Currently the Brockville Police Service is investigating a case of hit and run motor vehicle accident that occurred this date at approximately 1130am at Stewart Blvd. and the 401 east bound off ramp.

The vehicle is described as a older style dark green pickup truck. The front grill is rusty. Witnesses were not sure of the make or model. The truck was exiting the 401 and approaching the red light to proceed south on Stewart Blvd when the driver made contact with two pedestrians crossing in front of him. There were no injuries to the pedestrians who were two female high school students.

The driver is described as in his mid 50’s with a brown beard. At the time he was wearing a blue and white plaid shirt/jacket.

A male subject attended 32 Wall Street to attend Provincial Offences Court on January 22, 2014. A Brockville Police Special Constable recognized the subject and was aware that there was a warrant for the subject


On January 22, 2014 at 7:15 am a King Street West landlord received an emergency call from one of his tenants that water was running out of the ceiling into his unit. The landlord attended to investigate and found that there was a significant water leak in the bathroom of a third floor unit. Water was causing damage to that unit and the two below. Since it was an emergency the landlord entered the third floor unit to do repairs although the tenants were not happy with his decision. A 23 year old male tenant assaulted the landlord by punching and head butting him. A sink was also broke in the scuffle. Police were notified and attended. It was learned that the suspect was already on bail conditions. The Brockville man has been arrested and charged for assault and breach of his bail conditions. He was held in custody to appear at a bail hearing on January 22, 2014.
