News Release – April 30 – May 1, 2024

Search Warrants Executed with Various Drugs Seized

 

On May 1, 2024, the Brockville Police Service Intelligence and Drug Enforcement Unit and Emergency Response Team executed two Section 11 Controlled Drug and Substance Act warrants, at a multi-unit complex on Central Ave. The operational plan was executed in conjunction with the assistance of the OPP BEU East, OPP led Joint Forces Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team East Region and OPP K9 Unit.

As a result, quantities of methamphetamine, MDMA and cocaine were seized in the operation. The total approximate value of the drugs seized was $12,000.00. In conjunction with the drugs, police also seized $1500.00 in Canadian Currency and a Glock 19 replica handgun with a laser sight.

In total, five people were arrested. Below is a list of individuals along with their charges:

  • 33-year-old, female – possession for purpose meth.
  • 27-year-old, male – possession purpose meth & possess prohibited weapon (brass knuckles w/ knife built in).
  • 38-year-old, male – possession for purpose meth, possession weapon dangerous (Glock 19 replica, pistol).
  • 42-year-old, male – possession for purpose meth, possession for purpose cocaine, possession for purpose MDMA & warrant for domestic assault.
  • 32-year-old, female – possession for purpose meth, possession for purpose cocaine, fail to comply with undertaking conditions.

The 42-year-old, male and 32-year-old, female were held in custody for a bail hearing. The others arrested in the operation were released with future court dates.

 

 

 

Disturbance Leads to Arrest Warrant Execution

On April 30, 2024, at about 12:45am, police received a report of a disturbance on Chancery Lane. Information was that it sounded like three people were involved and the sounds of items breaking could be heard. Officers arrived and everything was quiet. Police did eventually locate a 43-year-old, male in the area. It was determined that there was a warrant for the male’s arrest for intimate partner related assault, assault with a weapon and fail to comply with probation. These charges were stemming from an investigation in October, 2023. He was arrested and held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

 

News Release – April 27 – 28, 2024

Since Friday, April 26 to Sunday, April 28, 2024, The Brockville Police Service received 129 calls for service. This included 7 traffic related charges, 19 Criminal Code charges and 3 Mental Health apprehensions. The following are a few highlights from the weekend.

 

Break and Enter Suspect Captured

On April 28, 2024, at about 4:00am, police received a report of a security alarm at the Hydro One facility on Front Ave. Officers responded to the area and investigation revealed that there was a perimeter breach and a suspect had fled North from the area. Officers searched the area and actually observed a suspect attempting to hide with tools and a face mask. The suspect then fled and officers gave chase through the wooded area. They eventually caught up to the suspect who attempted to hide in the vicinity of Giant Tiger on Park St. They were arrested and identified to be a 30-year-old, male. The subject did resist the arrest, however officers quickly gained control. Officers did recover two chain saws, two batteries and a Sawzall, totaling an approximate value of $1,800.00. The subject was charged with break and enter, disguise with intent, possession of break in tools and resist arrest. He was eventually released with conditions and a future court date.    

 

Male Arrested After Threatening a Victim and Violating Conditions

On April 25, 2024, at about 1:30pm, police received information of an incident stemming from a neighbour dispute, in the area of Duke St. and Flanders Rd. Information was that two neighbours were in a disagreement that resulted in threatening comments to burn one’s residence down, were made. This was accompanied with multiple other insults. As a result of the investigation, a 54-year-old, male was charged with uttering threats and released with conditions to abstain from communicating with the victim.

On April 26, 2024, at about 12:30pm, police learned that the 54-year-old, male subject, had contacted the victim’s place of work three times making false complaints. This all after being charged and placed on conditions. In the early hours this morning on April 29, 2024, the 54-year-old, male was located and arrested for criminal harassment. He was charged with harassment and held for a bail hearing.

 

Bail Violations

On April 28, 2024, at about 12:45pm, police were notified about a breach of undertaking, bail conditions. The accused from a previous investigation where charges of assault, threats and mischief were laid, was released on an undertaking with conditions to abstain from communicating with the victim. Investigation revealed that the accused 43-year-old, male had made attempts and actually contacted the victim. The male subject was located and arrested for failing to comply with undertaking. He was held for a bail hearing.

News Release – April 24 – 25, 2024

In the last week, the Brockville Police Service has responded to 302 calls for service. In those incidents laid 54 Criminal Code charges, 17 Highway Traffic charges and 7 Liquor Licence and Control Act charges. The following are a few incidents police responded to in the past couple days.

 

 Male Arrested Regarding Intimate Partner Violence

On April 24, 2024, at about 9:00am, police received information of an assault that had taken place earlier that morning between a couple that had taken place in the Cartier Court area. Investigation revealed that a female was engaged in a disagreement with her 43-year-old, boyfriend, which resulted in him punching her in the mouth. Later, police located the male and placed him under arrest. He was charged with assault and released on conditions with a future court date. The female received non-life-threatening injuries.

 

Alarm Leads to Break and Enter Arrest

On April 24, 2020, at about 6:30pm, police received notification from an alarm monitoring company that they believed someone had gained entry to Harold’s Demolition on Georgina St. Police arrived and found that someone had gained entry to the building. Police searched the premises and located a 24-year-old, male located inside the building. It was also found that the male was on probation with conditions. He was arrested and charged with break and enter and fail to comply with probation. He was released on new conditions and a future court date.

 

Male Arrested for Serious Offences Involving Intimate Partner Violence

On April 25, 2024, at about 1:30am, police received a 911 call from a female in the area of Laurier Field, stating she had been assaulted by her 33-year-old, boyfriend. It was also said that he was actively smashing out the windows of a pickup truck with a crowbar. Officers arrived and located the two individuals involved. The male was located sitting by a pickup truck with a smashed window. Investigation revealed that the couple were engaged in a dispute that escalated to the point that the male poured a beverage on the female, punched her in the face, threatened her, struck her with a crowbar and also struck her with a knife causing a cut. After the female made it to safety, he continued in his rage by smashing the pickup truck windows and interior dash to the point that it needed to be towed. The male was placed under arrest and resisted the arrest; however, police were able to quickly gain control and no one else was hurt. Once arrested officers located a quantity of cocaine, crystal meth, fentanyl, scales, bags and three cell phones in his possession. He was held in custody for a bail hearing for the following offences; Assault, four counts of Assault with weapon, mischief over $5,000.00, three counts of Possession for the purpose of trafficking, uttering threats and Resist arrest. The female received non-life-threatening injuries.

 

Bail Violations

On April 25, 2024, at about 10:00pm, police were on general patrol when they observed a 30-year-old, male in the area of John St. The male was operating a motor-assisted bicycle and attempted to avoid the officer by cutting in behind a residence on the John St. The officer did locate the male and found that he was on a release order with bail conditions consisting of a curfew. The subject was to remain in his residence between the hours of 10:00pm and 6:00am, which is not near the address where he was located. He was placed under arrest and held in custody for a bail hearing for the offence of fail to comply with release order.

 

News Release – April 20 – 21, 2024

Male Arrested in Intimate Partner Assault

On April 20, 2024, at about 12:15pm, police received a call to a residence on James St. W., where a victim had reported that she had been assaulted. Investigation revealed that a 50-year-old, male was in an argument with his partner where it escalated to him threatening to assault her and he shoved her multiple times. The female fled the residence and attended a neighbour’s residence to call 911. It was later discovered that the male had also attempted to strike the female with a baseball bat. The male subject was located and arrested shortly after taking the complaint. He was held in custody for a bail hearing for the offences of uttering threats and assault with a weapon.

 

Female Arrested in Intimate Partner Assault

On April 21, 2024, at about 5:00am, police received a call in the area of King St. W., regarding an assault. Investigation revealed that the male victim was at home when his female partner arrived home from being out at a local licenced establishment, consuming alcohol. An argument quickly erupted and escalated to the point that the 46-year-old, female attacked the male by striking and scratching his face. Police arrested the female and charged her with assault. She was released with conditions and a future court date.

 

Male Arrested for Harassment and Threats

On April 21, 2024, at about 3:30am, police received a call to attend an apartment building on King St. E., regarding an unwanted person. Officers arrived and the female caller no longer wanted a 61-year-old, male at her residence after they had engaged in an argument over property. The dispute ended and parties were separated.

Later, at about 6:00am, police received a second call as the male had returned. Now he was threatening the female caller, kicking the door and there was concerns he was attempting to lite something on fire. Police responded along with Brockville Fire Department and located the male subject. There was no active fire found, however, he was placed under arrest and charged with uttering threats and harassment. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.    

 

 

News Release – April 16, 2024

Two Impaired Drivers Arrested Within Hours

On April 16, 2024, police arrested two males in separate impaired driving incidents, within a couple of hours. At about 3:00pm, officers were on general patrol in the area of Ormond St. The moped was observed weaving along the side of the roadway. Suddenly, the driver veered to the right to the point that is struck the curb, causing the driver to fall. Property in his possession was spilled over the roadway. It was learned that the driver was a 63-year-old, male who was prohibited from driving due to previous impaired charges. He was arrested and taken to the police station where further testing confirmed he was impaired. Luckily, he wasn’t seriously injured.   

 

Later, at about 4:45pm, police responded to calls of a motor vehicle collision involving and E-bike and a pickup truck in the area of Perth St. Officers arrived and found that the operator of the E-bike was a 55-year-old, male who had been drinking. Luckily, injuries were considered minor or non-life-threatening. He failed the roadside screening breath sample and was placed under arrest. Later at the police station, further testing confirmed the impairment. This male was on probation and also prohibited from driving due to previous impaired related incidents.

Both males were charged with operation while impaired by alcohol, operation while impaired – blood alcohol over 80mg and operation while prohibited from driving. The 55-year-old, male was additionally charged with failing to comply with probation conditions. Both were released with future court dates.

 

Wanted People Arrested

During the day of April 16, 2024, police took four individuals into custody, all wanted for various offences, on separate incidents. These include the following:

  • A 37-year-old, male was arrested for two counts for failing to comply with his undertaking bail conditions, for communicating with a victim and being in a place he knows the victim to be. He was held for bail.
  • A 30-year-old, female was arrested on a warrant for failing to comply with probation conditions, specifically, failing to attend for scheduled appointments. She was eventually released with a future court date.
  • A 36-year-old, male was arrested by the OPP and turned over the Brockville Police Service, on an arrest warrant for fail to comply with probation conditions. The condition was to abstain from communicating with a victim in a previous offence. He was released with new conditions and a future court date.
  • Belleville Police Service arrested a 28-year-old, male on a warrant for two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.00. He was turned over to the Brockville Police Service and held in custody for a bail hearing.

News Release – April 12 – 15, 2024

Fire Investigation

An investigation is underway regarding another fire at 122 Brock St., on April 14, 2024. Reports of the fire were received at about 9:30pm. The Brockville Fire Department responded quickly to the scene and kept the fire contained and eventually, extinguished. The Ontario Fire Marshal is not involved, but police believe this to be suspicious and continue to work on identifying the suspect(s). No one was injured in the incident. We are asking the public to review their security or doorbell cameras for any possible suspect footage within the area. You can report any information to us at 613-342-0127. Intimate Partner Violence

On April 14, 2024, at about 8:00pm, police received a report of an assault that had taken place between a couple on George St. Investigation revealed that a 37-year-old, male was engaged in a dispute with his younger girlfriend. It escalated when the male threatened to harm the female and began choking the female. He choked her to the point of where it was described that she was losing consciousness, twice. Police eventually located the male subject and he was placed under arrest. The female suffered non-life-threatening injuries in this scary incident. He was held in custody for a bail hearing for the offences of assault, assault cause bodily harm, uttering threats, forcible confinement and breach of recognizance.

 

Disturbance

On April 13, 2024, at about 7:15pm, police received a call regarding a male walking up the middle of the street obstructing traffic and possibly had struck vehicles. Police attended and located a 44-year-old, male subject, matching the description. It was discovered that he was on a probation order and under the influence of drugs. He was arrested and due to his intoxication level, he was held in custody until safe to release. Police did not identify any damaged property. The male subject was charged with failing to comply with probation and causing a disturbance.

 

Male Arrested After Multiple Dangerous Driving Incidents

On April 12, 2024, a wanted male was located and arrested regarding repeated occurrences of putting the public at risk with dangerous driving incidents. Police were aware of the accused 18-year-old, male, who operates a copper coloured, Mitsubishi brand, vehicle. He was already on release order with bail conditions for dangerous driving incidents, where he failed to stop for police.

On March 17, 2024, at about 2:00am, police identified the male operating the vehicle downtown on Water St. When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled at a high rate of speed. Later, on April 12, 2024, at about 10:00am, police observed the male operating his vehicle again, on King St. When officers attempted to stop him, he again fled at speeds up to 130km/h in the downtown area, weaving through traffic and lanes.

Officers were monitoring the area and a short time later, observed the suspect vehicle parked on Apple St., in the area of his residence. While officers were surveilling the area, the male subject was observed walking towards the vehicle. Officers reacted quickly and placed him under arrest. The male subject did resist the arrest, however, police quickly gained control.

This young male has been operating his vehicle dangerously in the community and also fleeing from police on multiple occasions. Even though he had already been charged and placed on bail conditions for similar, multiple counts of dangerous driving and flight from police, he was held in custody again for a bail hearing. This time the total list of new charges are two counts of flight from police, two counts of fail to comply with release order (bail), dangerous driving and resist peace officer. He was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with drive motor vehicle – perform stunt and Class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver.        

 

 

News Release – April 6 – 8, 2024

Arrest Made Intimate Partner Violence

On April 6, 2024, at about 10:00pm, police received a call to a residence on Macodrum Dr., regarding a dispute. Investigation revealed that a couple had been arguing for multiple hours that evening. It escalated to the point that the female in the residence locked her husband out of the residence. During the investigation, officers learned that the 30-year-old, male had in fact assaulted his wife the night previous day by shoving her. The victim had minor, non-life-threatening, injuries. The male subject was arrested for assault and held for a bail hearing.

 

Suspect of Multiple Thefts Arrested

On April 6, 2024, at about 5:30pm, police received reports of thefts that had taken place at the Dollar Tree store and the LCBO, on Parkedale Ave. Police attended the locations and investigation revealed that a 37-year-old, female was identified as being responsible for the thefts. In fact, it was also learned that the female subject was responsible for a previous LCBO theft that occurred on March 28, 2024. Officers located the female in the area where she was placed under arrest. She was charged with all three counts of theft under $5,000.00 and released with a future court date.

 

Structure Fire

On April 8, 2024, at about 9:30am, police received information, along with the Brockville Fire Department, regarding an active fire at the Casual Living store on William St. Emergency services all attended and a large area was barricaded off for public safety with assistance from the Brockville Public Works Department. The fast response and hard work of the Brockville fire Department, resulted in the fire remaining contained to that building and luckily, no one was injured. However, there was a significant value in damages to the property. The fire was not deemed to be suspicious and the Fire Marshal is not investigating.

 

Intimate Partner Violence

On April 8, 2024, at about 10:00pm, police received a 911 call regarding a disturbance at a residence on Park St. Investigation revealed that a 31-year-old, male and his girlfriend were in a dispute that escalated to him shoving her into a mirror causing it to break then also biting her thumb. Police placed the male under arrest for assault. The female suffered non-life-threating injuries. He was charged with assault and held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

Warrant Executed

On April 8, 2024, at about 11:00pm, police received a call to a residence on Laurier Blvd., regarding a 20-year-old, male who was in possession of a knife and making threats of self-harm. Police attended and officers located the male on the property, hiding. It was determined he was not in possession of a knife, however, did have a warrant for his arrest stemming from an assault investigation from March 20, 2024. The male was placed under arrest and held in custody for a bail hearing. While in custody, the male attempted to clog the cell toilet, smash light fixtures and threatened self-harm again. He was monitored closely throughout the remainder of the night, until the bail hearing.

 

Impaired Operation

On April 8, 2024, at about 8:30am, police receive a call in the area of Kyle Court, of a male slumped over inside his vehicle with his head resting on the car horn. Officers arrived and located a 33-year-old, male in the drivers seat as described. He was believed to be passed out due to drug use. He was taken to the Brockville General Hospital for medical attention, which he recovered from. Officers did locate a quantity of fentanyl and cocaine inside the vehicle. His vehicle was impounded, drivers licence was already suspended and charged with operation while impaired by drugs, possession cocaine and fentanyl, fail to comply with probation and operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited. He was released by police with a future court date.   

 

News Release – March 30 – April 1, 2024

Update to Drowning at Centeen Park

Police continue to receive questions regarding the drowning of a male in the St. Lawrence River, at Centeen Park, early yesterday, April 1st. Police can confirm the deceased male was 39-year-old, Jeffrey Greer, of Brockville. He fell into the frigid water while walking along the barrier wall along the parks water front. Please give the family privacy at this time.

It is important to highlight that this incident remains a Coroner’s investigation. Foul play is not suspected in this unfortunate incident.  

 

Suicidal Male with a Knife at McDonald’s

On April 1, 2024, at about 4:45pm, police received a report of a 36-year-old, male, at the McDonald’s restaurant on Parkedale Avenue, with a suicide note. Officers attended to check on the well-being of the male. Officers made a lengthy attempt to speak to the male and convince him to peacefully leave and attend the hospital receive assistance from a doctor. These attempts were not successful as the subject then pulled a large knife from his waistband and attempted to stab himself. Officers quickly reacted and deployed their conductive energy weapon (TASER) to gain control of the male so he could not cause serious harm to himself or anyone else. Once control was gained, he was apprehended and taken to the Brockville General Hospital to receive treatment regarding his mental health. No one was seriously injured in this incident. The officers’ actions, ensuring everyone’s safety regarding this dangerous situation, should be commended.    

 

Male Arrested for Discharging Bear Spray During Altercation

On March 30, 2024, at about 11:00am, police received a call to an apartment building on Kyle Court, in response to altercation where bear spray was deployed. Officers responded and investigation revealed that 25-year-old, male, had attended one of the units in the building to retrieve some property. An altercation quickly ensued between the 25-year-old and the resident of the unit. The 25-year-old, subject had a canister of bear spray and during the altercation it was discharged in the hallway of the building. The male subject was arrested and Brockville Fire Department attended to assist with decontaminating the building. The subject was known to be on probation with conditions to abide by. He was held in custody for a bail hearing for the offences of four counts of fail to comply with probation, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and mischief under $5,000.00. Any injuries in this incident can be described as non-life-threatening.   

 

St. Lawrence River Drowning

On April 1, 2024 Brockville Police along with Brockville Fire and Paramedics from Leeds and Grenville attended to Centeen Park in the City of Brockville after receiving calls of a person in distress in the St. Lawrence River.

The 39-year-old male subject was removed from the water and transported to Brockville General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.   This is still an ongoing investigation and foul play is not suspected at this time.

News Release – March 21 – 26, 2024

Since March 21, 2024, the Brockville Police Service has received 196 calls for service. Those calls resulted in ten arrests, four apprehensions, twenty Criminal Code Charges and nine traffic related charges. Below are a few of the investigations.

 

Female Arrested for Assault

This investigation took place a short time ago. On March 10, 2024, at about 6:30pm, police had received a report of a Brockville General Hospital staff member, who was assaulted by a 20-year-old, female patient. The staff member was also a female and the patient had pulled the staff member’s hair and struck her head repeatedly against a handrail. Other staff were able to assist and stop the assault. The staff member received non-life-threatening injuries. Police attended and investigated. The patient had to remain in hospital at that time for other reasons. Once she was released by the hospital, on March 20, 2024 at about 4:30pm, police arrested the 20-year-old, female, for assault. She was charged with assault and released with conditions and a future court date.

 

Disturbance Leads to Males Arrest

On March 21, 2024, at about 7:30am, police received a call in the area of the Rexall Pharmacy, on Pearl St. W., regarding a male eating sidewalk salt from the bin and banging on windows with his pants down. Officers attended and located the 38-year-old, male in question. He was known to police to be on probation. He was placed under arrest and charged with mischief and failing to comply with probation. Later, he was released with conditions and a future court date.

 

Male Charged After Fleeing from Police While Impaired

On March 23, 2024, at about 1:00am, an officer from the Brockville Police attempted to perform a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Ormond St. and Central Ave. The vehicle was observed driving erratically. The vehicle failed to stop for the officer and attempted to flee. The vehicle turned onto Bramshot Ave., where it lost control and struck the curb causing damage to front wheel and dislodging it from the vehicle. The driver was identified to be a 35-year-old, male who was placed under arrest. It was found that the male was under the influence of alcohol as well. Testing was performed at the Brockville Police Service and impairment was confirmed. He was charged with flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, operation while impaired and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg. His driver’s licence was suspended, vehicle impounded and held for a bail hearing.

 

Male Charged After Making Threats

On March 24, 2024, at about 1:30am, police received a report of a male who had sent messages to a family member, threatening to burn down their home, stab them and harm their children. Police spoke to the victim and confirmed the threats. The male was located by police, later on March 24th, at about 2:30pm. Due to the serious nature of the threats, he was arrested and charged with two counts of uttering threats and held for a bail hearing.    

 

Female Arrested for Weapon Possession and Bail Violation

On March 25, 2024, at about 4:00pm, police received a call of a suspicious vehicle with a male and female passed out inside the vehicle, in the area of Kincaid St. Police arrived and located the subjects in question. Investigation revealed that the 30-year-old, female in the vehicle, was on conditions to abstain from communicating with the male subject she was with. She was placed under arrest for failing to comply with her conditions and when searched, a loaded, silver painted, flair gun, was located. The item was seized and she was charged with fail to comply with undertaking and possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose. She was released on conditions and a future court date.
