March 12 – 13, 2019 Incidents

In the 24 hour period from March 12th 0500 – March 13th 0500 hours, officers responded to 33 calls for service. The calls resulted in three people being charged criminally, one mental health apprehension and 2 motor vehicle collisions.

Fraud/warrants

On March 12th, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. police received a call from “Money Mart” indicating that a female was in the business attempting to cash a cheque that they believed was fraudulent. Officers arrived on scene and located a 29 year old female. The female was well known to police. The female was wanted on an outstanding warrant for breaching her probation. She was arrested on the strength of the warrant. She has been held in custody and is also being charged with a fraud related offence.

 

March 11 – 12, 2019 Incidents

Breach of Probation/Domestic

On November 11th, 2019 at 7:30 a.m. a 21 year old male was found to be in breach of his probation order by associating with a person he was prohibited from communicating with. The male had just been released from serving an intermittent sentence confronted his ex-spouse which prompted the call to police. He was arrested without incident and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Suspicious Person/Drugs

On March 12th, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. a call was received by police for a suspicious person on Stewart Blvd. at Parkedale Ave. Officers located a 52 year old male at that location. The male was transported to the Brockville General Hospital due to an apparent overdose. He was also in possession of a quantity of narcotics. He has been charged with three counts of being in possession of a controlled substance.

Break and Enter

On March 12th, 2019 at 6:30 a.m. police responded to a call in the city’s south end. The complainant was awakened by her ex-spouse that had broken into her residence. The suspect fled when police were called. Officers located the suspect a short distance away. The 45 year old male has been arrested with criminal harassment, break and enter and failing to comply with a court order. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

March 8 – 10, 2019 Incidents

Police Assistance/Pursuit

A 19 year old male is facing charges from a pursuit that involved a stolen vehicle and a collision on Stewart Blvd. ON March 10th at 5:00 a.m. the Brockville Police Service assisted the OPP who were pursuing the stolen vehicle on Highway 401. The vehicle exited on Stewart Blvd., then travelled south bound and collided with a hydro pole at Front Ave. The driver fled on foot, but was arrested a short distance later. The OPP took custody of the subject.

Bail Violation

On the 9th of March 2019 at 6:20 p.m. the Brockville responded to a suspicious person on North Augusta Blvd. The 39 year old male had been approaching motorist claiming someone had been assaulted. Officers attended along with paramedics and found the male who was in need of medical attention due to suspected drug use. The male was brought to the Brockville General Hospital for treatment. He was later arrested for breaching his bail condition by not residing at an approved address.

Domestic

On March 10th, 2019 at 11:10 a.m. officers responded to a domestic dispute in the city’s north end. As a result of the investigation a 19 year old male has been charged with assault and breach of a recognizance of bail by being at an address he was prohibited from attending. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Unlawfully at Large

A 24 year old male failed to report for his intermittent sentence on Friday March 8th. This was his first appearance for his sentence. Staff at the Brockville Jail contacted our service to report his absence. The male was located by the OPP and turned over to officers in Brockville. The male was then held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Sex Assault

A 59 year old delivery driver has been charged with sexual assault. The victim contacted police to report the she had been assaulted by the accused when he handed her a parcel. The victim was not physically injured. The male left and police were contacted. He was located and charged with assault.

Seeking witnesses to an occurrence

The Brockville Police Service is currently investigating a domestic occurrence that occurred in the intersection of Parkedale Ave. and Ormond St. The incident occurred March 10th at 3:45 p.m. between a male and female. Witnesses are asked to contact Constable Lucas McArthur at 613-342-0127 ext. 6097.

 

March 6 – 7, 2019 Incidents

In the 24 hour period from March 7th 05:00 a.m. to March 8, 2019 05:00 the Brockville Police Service responded to 31 calls for service. The calls included 3 motor vehicle collisions, 3 arrests for various offences/warrants and 2 mental health apprehensions.

Assault

On March 6th 2019 at 12:30 p.m. officers responded to a downtown address in response to a complaint of assault. As a result of the complaint a 32 year old male has been charged with 3 counts of assault and one count of uttering a threat to cause bodily harm. The incidents investigated occurred over a two year period. The male was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

 

March 5 – 6, 2019 Incidents

In the 24 hour period from March 5th 5:00 a.m. to March 6th 5:00 a.m. members of the Brockville Police Service responded to 46 calls for service including 2 sexual assaults (no details will be disclosed), 2 break and enters, 3 collisions and 2 mental health apprehensions.

 

Bail Violation/Drugs

The 37 year old male that was charged yesterday for a theft incident at the Circle K on King St. West, returned to the store contrary to his release conditions. This male was located today at 10:30 a.m. and arrested for failing to comply with his officer in charge undertaking. A search incident to arrest revealed a quantity of methamphetamine. He now is facing charges of failing to comply with an officer in charge undertaking and possession of a controlled substance.

 

Warrants

A 34 year old male reported to the police service yesterday for his scheduled fingerprint date as per a previous release condition. Since the time of the offence and his fingerprint date a warrant was issued for failing to attend court for a breach of probation charge. The male was arrested and released with a future court date.

 

Bail Violations

On March 5th, 2019 at 11:00 p.m. officers responded to Walmart for a suspicious person. Officers located the subject, a 36 year old female, which was on “house arrest”. The female was arrested for breaching her conditional sentence and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

 

 

March 3 – 4, 2019 Incidents

Warrants

On the 4th of March 2019 a 27 year old male was arrested by officers in Toronto for his outstanding 2010 warrant of arrest from Brockville. The male had failed to attend court as required and a warrant was issued. The substantive charges stems from a theft of a poppy donation box from a local Tim Hortons. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

 

Theft

On the 3rd of March 2019 at 5:45 p.m. a 37 year old male was attended the Circle K convenience store on King St. West. The male proceeded to conceal various items on his person and left the store without making any attempt to pay. The accused was located on the 4th of March by officers as he returned to the store prompting the complainant to call police. He has been charged with theft under $5000 and released with a future court date.

March 1 – 2, 2019 Incidents

Warrant Executed

On the 1st of March, 2019, at approximately 4:30p.m., officers from the Brockville Police Service were in the downtown area investigating an unrelated issue. While there, officers observed two local individuals who are known to be wanted for various offences. The individuals were a female, 23 years of age, who was arrested for theft under $5,000. The second was a male, 20 years of age, arrested for theft under $5,000, resist arrest, 4 counts of breaching his recognizance and 4 counts of breaching his probation. The resist arrest charge came from a short foot pursuit which resulted in the male becoming assaultive towards the officer. The female was released with a future court date and the male was held in custody for a bail hearing. No one was injured during the arrest.

Impaired Driving

On the 1st of March, 2019, at approximately 8:00 p.m., officers from the Brockville Police Service received a report of a possible impaired driver operating a U-Haul moving truck. The vehicle was located in the North area of the City and stopped by police. The driver was a 48 year old, local female. She was arrested for drive over 80. She was taken back to the Brockville Police Service where she gave two breath sample readings of 100mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood. Her driver’s licence was suspended and she was later released with a future court date.

Drug Trafficking

On the 2nd of March, 2019, at approximately 1:30 p.m., officers from the Brockville Police Service were on patrol in the North area of the City when they came across a single vehicle collision. The vehicle had missed a turn and gone off the roadway. As officers stopped to help the driver it was discovered that there was a large quantity of drugs inside the vehicle. There originally was a concern that the driver was impaired by drugs, however, that was determined to not be the case. The driver was a 36 year old, local male, who was alone in the vehicle. It was found that he was on a recognizance of bail with a condition to abstain possession of unlawful drugs. The drugs seized in this incident were found on his person and in his vehicle. The variety of drugs located includes cocaine, methamphetamine, crystal meth, GHB and prescription codeine. He was arrested and held for a bail hearing on five counts of possession for the purposes of trafficking and breach of recognizance. He was held for a bail hearing. The total street value of the drugs is not yet known.  

February 28 – March 1, 2019 Incidents

Traffic Complaint/K9

On February 28th at 11:00 p.m. police received reports of a pick-up truck which had driven off Parkedale Avenue into a snow bank. Witnesses observed two females emerge from the vehicle and begin walking away. When officers arrived on scene the two females were no longer in sight. The service’s canine unit was deployed to track from the vehicle to the location where the accused was located confirming she was the driver who fled the scene of the collision. Diesel, our canine, was responsible for locating subject and the keys to the vehicle which were also discarded by the driver after she fled the collision. The 37 year old driver was wanted on a Canada wide parole warrant and also a suspended driver.

 

Warrants/drugs

On the 1st of March, 2019 a 28 year old female was located at the Courthouse, she was known to have an outstanding warrant out of Belleville. She was arrested and brought into custody; she was searched and police located a quantity of Methamphetamine (crystal meth), speed, crack-cocaine, and a small quantity of marihuana.

 

February 26 – 27, 2019 Incidents

Warrants

A 40 year old male was arrested on the 26th of February for his outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court. At 3:00 p.m. police were called to the Wall Street area for a suspicious male. The attending officers recognized the male and arrested him for his warrant. The male was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

 

Attempted Break and Enter

On the 27th of February 2019 at 3:00 a.m. officers responded to 38 Buell St. “Developmental Services” for an alarm. When the officers arrived on scene they observed that the front door had been kicked in; entry was not gained. Officers are looking for any witness to the incident. Charges pending

On the 7th of February 2019 a press release was issued for a small fire that was set at the Royal Bank at 2399 Parkedale Ave. The suspect had light a small fire and fled on foot. A passerby extinguished the fire and called police. Police have identified the suspect through CCTV footage that had been submitted. The suspect will be charged accordingly.

February 23 – 25, 2019 Incidents

Impaired

On the 23rd of February 2019 at 5:15 p.m. officers responded to a traffic collision without injuries at King Street East and Ford Street.   The officer arrived on scene and noticed signs of impairment from one of the drivers involved. The officer arrested a 58 year old driver and charged him with impaired driving. He was later released from custody with a future court date.

 

Shoplifting

On Saturday the 23rd of February 2019 at 12:20 p.m. a loss prevention officer observed a 50 year old female and a 52 year old female in the Real Canadian Superstore. They were both observed selecting merchandise and concealing the items on their persons. They both left the store without any attempt to pay. The loss prevention officer approached and arrested the two females and contacted police. Both were charged with theft under $5000.
