Domestic Disturbance
Local male arrested for assaulting his girlfriend. On the 10th of December, 2016 at approximately 3:30a.m., the Brockville Police Service received a report of a fire alarm sounding in a building in the downtown area of the city. Officers attended to investigate and found that the alarm was actually activated by a 19 year old female. She activated the alarm in attempts to prevent further being assaulted by her 26 year old boyfriend. The assault is described as being minor; however, the male was arrested and released with a court date for the assault.
Missing Person Located Successfully
A local elderly female was located within moments of receiving severe injury due to elements. On the 10th of December, 2016 at approximately 6:30a.m., the Brockville Police Service received a report of an 80 year old female suffering from dementia, missing from her residence in the North end of the city. The female was noticed missing by her husband from sometime throughout the night. Officers quickly attended the area and began to canvas for the female. It was believed that she would be confused and not dressed for the elements causing significant concern for her wellbeing in the subzero temperatures. Shortly after 7 a.m., officers patrolling the area luckily found the female laying on the front step of a residence not far from her own. She was not dressed for the elements and in medical distress. Thankfully, the home owners where the female was located were gracious enough to provide assistance that greatly helped the female in recovery. Paramedics responded quickly and transported the female to the Brockville General Hospital. Police are unaware of the current medical status of the female.
Residential Thefts
Christmas décor is being stolen from various residences throughout the city. On the 10th of December, 2016 at approximately 8:15 a.m., the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of the laser projector type Christmas lights being stolen from a North end residence. In fact, the Police Service has received many complaints since the end of November in regards to similar types of incidents. These lights have an approximate value ranging up to $300. We would like to make the public aware so attempts can be made to better secure these items. We strongly encourage the public to report any information to police in relation to these incidents.
Shoplifting
There were 4 other individuals, who were arrested for theft yesterday the 9th of December, 2016. These thefts occurred at 2 different department stores in the North end of the city. They are separate from the one reported in the 9th of December media release. One incident involved 3 youths acting together in a minor theft and the second was a lone adult male at a different location. All individuals arrested are local. The adult was charged and issued a court date. The three youths were dealt with by way of an extrajudicial measure in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
