Arrest made in recent downtown break and enters

Brockville Police have been investigating a number of reported break and enters to small businesses in downtown Brockville since mid-December of last year all of a similar nature where cash was taken. During the early morning hours of February 2nd, a caller notified the police of male subject observed on surveillance footage inside one of the businesses. While not locating the responsible person at the time, officers were able to identify the individual responsible by reviewing the video.

As a result, a 53 year old Brockville man was arrested Thursday and charged with 7 counts of Break and Enter and scheduled to appear in Brockville court today for a Bail Hearing.

 

Bail Violation/Drugs

While on patrol Brockville Police observed a 48 year old local man known to them to have an outstanding warrant for violating the terms of his bail riding in a taxi. After the warrant was confirmed officers stopped this male on Buell Street and placed him under arrest for the outstanding warrant.

A search of the accused during the arrest resulted in officers locating a quantity of Street drugs in the possession of the accused. As a result, he will face further charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The 48 year old Brockville man was also held in custody pending a court appearance today for a bail hearing.
