On October 8th, Brockville Police took a complaint from a city resident in regards to a fraud.
The female victim met a man on an internet chat site for seniors. The unknown male began making requests for funds after explaining he had run into unfortunate circumstances.
In the end, the victim was out a substantial amount of money. These crimes are becoming all too frequent and are almost impossible to track down the responsible parties.
Police encourage people to not send money to anyone that you have never met. Family members should check on others to make sure no one around them is communicating with another person in this fashion.
