At approximately 9:55 p.m. last evening officers with the Brockville Police responded to a call of a disturbance on Cedar Street between Church and Abbott Street. The caller stated one of the individuals involved had suffered injuries and needed an ambulance.
When officers and EMS staff arrived, the male victim had suffered serious injuries and despite the efforts of police and paramedics attending to the victim, he did not survive the altercation.
Members of the Brockville Police Services Emergency Response Team (ERT) were called and attended to the area and learned the other persons involved in the altercation had gone into a nearby residence. A negotiator with the ERT team was able to make contact with suspects and negotiate a safe surrender to police.
Detectives and members of the Forensic Identification Unit assisted by the OPP East Region Identification Unit are continuing their investigation at this time. Anyone who was in the area of Cedar Street between Abbott and Church Streets between the hours of 9:30 pm and 10:30 pm is asked to contact the Brockville Police Service at 613-342-0127.
