Foot Pursuit Leads to Multiple Arrests for Shoplifting
On the 16th of January, 2017 at approximately 1:20 p.m., the Brockville Police Service received a call from Loss Prevention at a North end business. 2 local male suspects, 41 and 46 years of age, were observed in the store selecting items and concealing them in their coats. Loss Prevention made police aware and officers attended the area. The male suspects then attempted to leave the store without paying for the merchandise. Loss Prevention approached the suspects who then fled on foot. Brockville Police Service officers had just arrived on scene and gave chase. The suspects separated when fleeing as did the officers to pursue. Moments later, both suspects were caught and placed under arrest for theft under $5,000.00. The total value of the theft was $105.35. They were later released with court dates.
Shoplifting
On the 16th of January, 2017 the Brockville Police Service received other complaints of 3 youths shoplifting from North end stores in 2 separate incidents. The youths were arrested for theft of values ranging from $5.00 – $20.00. All 3 youths were compliant and diverted from court with an extra judicial measure. The items taken were recovered and the youths turned over to their parents.
Mental Health Apprehension
On the 16th of January, 2017 at approximately 3:30p.m., the Brockville Police Service received a Form 1 for a mental health apprehension of a local, 60 year old female. The female’s doctor had concerns for her mental state and this form gives police the authority to take her for an assessment. She was escorted to the Brockville General Hospital without incident.
