Offensive Items Brought to School

On June 10, 2022 at about 2:30PM, the Brockville Police Service attended one of our High Schools in relation to a cap gun brought to school by a student. Two youths were playing with the cap gun in the parking lot and fired the gun. There was no intent to cause a panic or harm to anyone. The Brockville Police Service would like to remind all youths and parents that items like these are not welcome at or on school property. While we all understand cap guns are intended for entertainment, items like this or anything resembling an offensive weapon could easily create panic and trigger an emergency response by police. These types of situations must be taken seriously by police regardless if the item is a toy. Public safety is our priority.
