The Ministry of Labour has dedicated an investigator to the incident.

A 22 year old male was arrested for theft at Walmart on May 15th at 5:15 p.m. The male was observed by loss prevention officers selecting and concealing various items, leaving the store without making any attempts to pay. He was arrested outside of the store where he ingested an unknown substance upon his detention. Officers transported the male to the Brockville General Hospital for treatment. The male was later released from custody after he was issued a court date to answer to the theft charge. It is suspected that he swallowed a controlled substance to avoid being charged with possession.

Police responded to a 911 call last night at 9:45 p.m at 206 King St. west.  The caller indicated that there was a disturbance between two males and a handgun was presented during the scuffle. Officers responding to the call confronted a male that was identified as the armed suspect by the caller. The male fled from police into the apartment building.

Brockville’s Emergency Response Team, along with detectives were dispatched to assist the officers at the scene. The officers, fearing for the rest of the tenants, attempted to locate and alert all residents of the building. In doing so the male was located in the closet of one of the apartments.

A 29 year old male now faces charges of a slew of charges relating to the incident, including pointing a firearm, assault, forcible confinement, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and many more. The weapon was recovered at the scene and found to be a lifelike imitation.
