Motor Vehicle Collision leads to Stunt Driving Charge
A 21 year old Brockville man is facing Stunt Driving charges under the Highway Traffic Act following a Motor Vehicle Collision yesterday morning.
At approximately 9:30 yesterday morning Brockville Police were called to a Kensington Pkwy residence on a report of an orange Mustang on the front lawn of a residence. Officers attended to the area and learned the driver of the vehicle had lost control and skidded across two yards before coming to a rest. In addition to the property damage the vehicle had to be towed from the scene.
The driver had his licence suspended for 7 days for the Stunt Driving charge and faces a fine of between $2000 and $10 000 dollars or a term of imprisonment for six months or less for a first time offence. He will appear in Provincial Offences court on a future date.
Handgun Incident on William Street Overpass
Early yesterday afternoon Brockville Police received several calls of a man on the Willian Street overpass with a handgun waving at vehicles passing by and then concealing it in his belt.
Officers throughout the city responded to the call on the overpass near the William Street Tim Horton’s and located the suspect, a 24 year old Brockville man, on the overpass. Officers on the scene performed a “high risk” arrest due to the nature of the call and observed the weapon in the rear of the man’s pants. During the arrest the man threw the weapon to the side and continued to struggle with officers until he was finally handcuffed.
The young man was taken to the Brockville General Hospital as a precautionary measure, and the officers suffered only very minor injuries. The firearm recovered was found to be a pellet pistol. The 24 year old will be facing several weapons related charges and appear at a future court date.
Brockville and Kingston Officers execute drug Warrant
A Kingston 32-year-old man and 32-year-old woman, and a Brockville 29-year-old man have all been arrested in relation to cocaine trafficking.
In March 2017, members of the Kingston Police Drug Enforcement Unit began investigating the Kingston man. On May 16, 2017 the Kingston man and woman travelled together to Brockville. The two attend the residence of the Brockville man where they obtained a packaged believed to contain cocaine.
At approximately 3:30 p.m. the Kingston man and woman were stopped by Kingston Police on Montreal Street at the 401. During a search of the vehicle, officers located the package containing a large quantity of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value over $100,000.
The Kingston man and woman were both arrested and transported to Kingston Police headquarters where they were held to attend a bail hearing.
Following the arrests of the Kingston man and woman, search warrants were executed at their residence in Kingston. Officers seized additional cocaine, Canadian currency and various drug paraphernalia. A second search warrant was executed by members of Brockville Police and Kingston Police at the Brockville residence. The Brockville man was arrested and transported to police headquarters.
The Kingston man and woman were both charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. The Brockville man was charged with trafficking cocaine.
