Impaired Driving

On May 19th at 9:25 am, Brockville Police received a complaint of poor driving on north end streets.

Officers stopped the vehicle in question and dealt with a local, 32 year old female. An odour of alcohol was evident on her breath and a roadside demand was made for a breath sample. The result was a fail and was followed up with her arrest for operating a motor vehicle over the legal limit. Two samples of her breath were taken at Police headquarters which registered almost four times the legal limit.

The young woman was released to other family later in the day with a future court date. Her licence was automatically suspended and the vehicle impounded.

 

Fail to Attend

On May 19th at 10:23 am, Special Constables of the Brockville Police Service arrested a local, 50 year old man, who failed to attend a past court appearance.

The male was located inside the court house when he decided to show up for his girlfriend’s court date. The accused was released with a future appearance date.

 

Highway Traffic Act

On May 19th at 5:08 pm, Brockville Police received a tip of a local man driving while prohibited as a result of a conviction for impaired driving.

Officers spotted the vehicle and stopped it just west of the city. The 56 year old driver was arrested for driving while disqualified. He was released shortly afterwards and given a future court date. The vehicle was impounded for a period of 45 days.

 

Public Intoxication

On May 19th at 8:33 pm, Brockville Police received information concerning a female passed out in one of our south end parks.

Officers located and spoke to a local, 43 year old female, heavily intoxicated. She complained about pain to her legs and hip and had possibly fallen. The woman was transported to hospital for appropriate treatment.

 

Criminal Harassment

On May 19th at 11:12 pm, Brockville Police attended a north end residence after a complaint of a man in the rear yard.

The suspect had taken the victim’s ladder and was using it to look into windows of the residence. He was gone on Police arrival.

Investigation revealed the man was an ex-boyfriend of the female caller. The local, 50 year old, turned himself in when contacted by Police. He was charged with criminal harassment and theft in regards to the ladder. A future court date was issued and conditions of release put in place.

 

Well Being Check

On May 20th at 11:19 pm, Brockville Police attended a north end residence to check on the wellbeing of a local, 38 year old male.

The man had made statements about self harm to his spouse and left the residence. While Police were speaking to his wife, the male returned. He explained he was upset over a recent event in his life and made some comments but was not interested in following through. Officers put him in touch with agencies that could assist him after their concerns were satisfied in regards to his comments.

 

Impaired Driving

On May 23rd at 12:22 a., Brockville Police attended a south end residence after a parked vehicle was struck by a local female.

Officers discovered the 23 year old had been drinking and was impaired by alcohol. She was arrested and taken to Police headquarters where breath samples were obtained. Those samples registered almost three times the legal limit. Her licence was suspended and her vehicle impounded. The parked vehicle suffered moderate damage. A future court date was issued.

 

Sexual Assault

On May 23rd at 1:02 pm, Brockville Police took a sexual assault complaint at a residence in the center of the city.

A group of friends had gathered at a residence the previous evening for a bonfire. The female resident had gone to bed early leaving her spouse and others in the rear yard. At one point, the spouse enters the residence to check on a friend of his who was taking a long time getting a drink. He discovered the male fondling his wife while she was incapacitated. Police arrested and charged the local, 51 year old, with sexual assault. He was released on conditions and given a future court date.

 

Indecent Act

On May 23rd at 7:58 pm, Brockville Police responded to a complaint involving an indecent act in a south end parking lot.

A concerned citizen was trying to stop a man from operating his motor vehicle after observing signs of impairment. The accused removed his genitals from his pants and began swearing at the other male. Police located the local, 35 year old suspect, who was charged with an indecent act. A future court date was issued and the man was released.

 

Animal Bite

On May 24th at 12:37 pm., Brockville Police attended a north end residence in regards to a dog bite.

A young child suffered wounds to the face from the family dog. The child was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment. The Health Unit has been advised.
