Concerning Facebook Messages

Yesterday Brockville Police received two calls from concerned friends regarding some disturbing messages they had received over Facebook.

At 5:46 a.m. yesterday morning a Lyn resident contacted police to report that his 17 year old friend was not feeling well, and having some difficulty and he had received several concerning messages over Facebook. Officers then attended to the young lady’s residence to check on her well-being and arrangements were made for her to seek assistance from a local community service to assist her.

Again early this morning officers received a call from a resident indicating her friend had sent a message over Facebook and may have harmed herself.

At approximately 12:30 a.m. this morning officers arrived at the home of the woman and after speaking with her conveyed her to the Brockville General Hospital to be examined by a physician.

Disturbance at Residence

Late last evening Brockville Police were called on a couple of occasions to a Central Avenue residence where a 24 year old Brockville man was intoxicated and arguing with his mother.

Just before 11p.m. Brockville police responded to the first call to the residence from the young man’s mother as she was having difficulty dealing with him and calming him down. Officers attended and managed to calm the situation, and left when all parties agreed there would be no more arguing.

Shortly after clearing from the residence police were called back by the mother and ask to return. As a result of this call, the 24 year old son was arrested to prevent a breach of the peace and conveyed to the Brockville Police Station where he spent the night until he sobered up and was released.
